You would need some way to stop the trunion from pivoting or your bed will sit on top of the tires. Without the second axle housing, there is nothing to limit spring rotation.
I do not know about anybody else, but if a M818 or 923 is headed at my road block with a full head of steam, my section will be evacuated, brush guard or not!
Pretty hard to be very sneaky in a deuce, not exactly your get away vehicle of the day. I am pretty sure they knew who I am and at the very least where I work. 27 years on the local PD, unfortunately, my mug has made the local paper a few times.
You are correct though, I would not have let my...
I am sure it has happened elsewhere as well. Some of our rural fire departments had converted GMC 6x6's for fire engines. They would run red lights and siren down the Interstate to a car fire or injury accident. It always struck me as funny that a vehicle that was having a hard time maintaining...
If he kicks the transfer case in neutral, it should be fine for 20 miles. I towed my M1008 over 700 miles with the T-case in neutral and shafts in. Towed it with a deuce, so my ground speeds were not outrageous. His should not be either with the M1008 pulling a M1009. Mine did fine. Glen
I have been on some pretty rough recoveries, not MVs, but muscle cars and old 4x4 pickups. I do not think I ever had one that we lost that many tires on. That would take the fun out of it in a hurry. The wiring issues seem to be hit and miss.
Glad you made it safely, that is the main thing, we...
I am not so sure that will be too well accepted. I think you better send it on down to me and I will get it past the bad press and hate mail for you. I would hate for you to have to endure that...
Seriously though, I like it! Did you add a seat in the back or just more cab room? Glen
I found a manual in the glove box which I take to be for the pump. I suspect they wrote off for it as it shows a 1960 ish International grill and headlight arrangement.
I think the truck conversion was done in 1949, found a date there as well.
The engine's manifold in a photo above has a 1960...
See if a member near you has a tow bar. The medium tow bar works great for towing. 20 miles? A nylon strap and a buddy can get that done. The M1008 is a less than 50 mph truck anyway. If you we're in my neighborhood I would do it for you just to help out. Glen
Like somebody else said, just hook the lines up and leave the valves off. That should keep some DOT Nazi from stopping you just because. Although, it would be highly unusual for DOT to stop a military truck. Your deuce will have no trouble stopping it. Most of the time I cannot tell my 105 is...
What are you worried about? There is no reverse pump on the 105 to pollute your system with. When you charge the service line, it uses a diaphragm to actuate the master cylinder on the 105.
They are doing super! Missy started having seizures, thankfully the medication is only 18 dollars a month and has been doing a super job.
The two boys are still forever anxious to go along. I was feeling bad for leaving them home yesterday, but it panned out for the better. It was awfully hot...
I ran across this old GMC today.... I would love to know the history. Is this a bobbed CCKW of sorts? I never saw one before. Looking for some insight! Thanks in advance! Glen
First off, thanks for posting photos with the kids enjoying your truck too!
When you get around to filling the transmission, it is supposed to be down below the fill plug. Over fill and it runs out the nose onto the clutch disc.
I have big fingers, if I can reach grease, it is full enough...
I was safe there, mine was already running. That big beaming smile he had the whole time will light up the memories for quite some time. Kind of a cool kid, he was very polite and soft spoken. He had many scars, I take it from various operations the little guy has survived already. It was good...
Thanks guys, it was good for both of us, heck, it was good for all of us!
He may never get to drive, but I am betting he will recognize those deuces as friendly Army Trucks from now on.
Dad said when they entered the mall, he pointed at the deuce and said "Army Truck" Dad decided to see if...
I had five 900X20 Titans in the bed of my M1008 and three in the bed of my deuce. I decided to catch my M1008 at the Mall, my son was working, so I backed the 105 up to the 1008 and started loading tires. I moved my fluid tub out of the 1008 over to the 105.
I was buttoning things up to go drop...
