A fellow member, Cookieman, bought a M109 at Riley. He had the misfortune of coming through on my day off, so I volunteered to go help him. He claims he is new to military vehicles, but he did a whole lot of fixing on his own!
I left town early this morning, cruising east on I-70 with my ear...
The Cookeemann is on his way to Oklahoma City. We had a few minor issues, a little low on brake fluid, the flat front tire had a bolt stuck in it and had to be changed, the front and middle differentials were low on oil, The primary had a few drops of water in it, the fuel shut off was stuck and...
Sounds like an air leak in the fuel system, since that bleeder is the highest point, good place to have a bleeder by the way, it makes short work of getting the air out. I fought a couple of those leaks and they can be frustrating. Glen
Welcome to the nut house, you will soon be addicted and have a yard full..... 75, that was my cut off year, now I could take a 76 or 77 to take advantage of the Kansas antique Law. Glen
If I did not get it done on day one, I certainly would have on day two. I used to work for a crane company and we used winches all the time, not only in the crane, but on the trucks loading the cranes. Our low boys had drop necks that folded flat out to mother earth, then you backed the crane up...
The Detroit can be rough and some are much rougher than others. You will learn to wait until the truck is getting straight before accelerating. Based on the four I have owned or driven a lot, the worst is backing to the right, then taking off forward to the left. Sometimes I wonder if it is...
Learn to read Glen... sheesh.. No, that is not normal. When you jack it up, can you rock the tire and wheel as well? It should sit tight against the wheel bearings, unless somebody swapped in M1009 axles.
Saw this today and it surely did not help my lost love any.... The classic M715. A mechanical disaster, but my favorite eye candy of military trucks. They just need a little mechanical help! Glen
When I recovered my deuce, it had been sitting for a couple of years, no cap. It was really cold out side, go figure, Ellsworth AFB in February, and I got a mixture of black sooty water and what looked like little chunks of coal as the pipe warmed up and it was blowing the crap out.
I think...
Your deuce would be worth more when you got out west as the truck numbers are much lower there. Depending upon the weight of your car, what you packed in your car and your choice of trailer, you could run into braking issues as well. Deuces have an air brake system for trailer braking. A very...
Mine are registered as a 1986 Blazer with a regular car plate. My pickup is a 1987 Chevrolet truck registered on a 12,000 truck tag. My deuce, even though you did not ask, is on an antique tag. In Ks there are no restrictions on antiques unless you use them commercially. A flat 17.50 a year...
Thanks for being man enough to post that, it seems like guys just do not want to listen. My M1008 was also overloaded with the M105 behind it, I could pull it and stop it, but not in a panic situation. Maybe your sharing these images will wake a few up, it is just not safe to pull more than...
