Most 880 series ambulances seem to have the rear doors split, I think it's caused from trying to shut the doors with the steps out. Ours is the same way. I thought about drilling the rivets out, pulling the two shells apart, and re-enforcing the edge with some angle iron. If you have some ideas...

Keith, Is there any way to keep the corrosion from accumulating again? Would drilling a small hole in the bottom of the case help? My freq meter stopped working because of corrosion.

Wire #55 goes to the manifold heater fuel pump from the manifold heater switch. Do you not have a manifold heater switch? If you do, I'd be willing to bet your manifold heater doesn't work, with wire #55 just dangling there. #55 would be OK to get power from for the heater, but I would fuse the...

Right above the steering column on the firewall, there is a circuit breaker. I installed a splitter there, and pulled the power for my heater from the splitter. I might have a photo at home of what I did. I think I even have a parts list and "blueprints".
That unit should work fine in your truck. You will need a resistor to make a low speed connection. You might have to piece together some parts to make the system work, but parts are available.
If you want to lube it, do not use WD-40! Get a can of Houdini from a locksmith supply. It's a spray lubricant designed especially for locks. This info is per the locksmith where I work, he's been locksmithing for about 30 years.
So if someone has used a phase convertor to power another unit with a motor and electronics, would it be in someone's best interest to make sure the electronics were not attached to the synthetic leg?
