Busy week, since the Florida Inferno is abated.
Installed the CamoTek glow box this morning. Unfortunately, I'm expert at installing them but this should be the last one for me!
My wish is I could find a way or find someone that can get the two broken glow plugs out without having the remove...
Sorry to resurrect an ancient thread. Seems like this is the only thread I could find on it.
Has anyone here installed one of these? I was enchanted with this setup ever since I first got my M998 three years ago. The wife just gave me permission to buy it!
Only thing is I wish I had modified...
I finally got around to installing a separate the air vent line from the fuel pump so I don't end up with diesel in the transmission, hubs or everywhere else. Just used a few feet of 1/4" diesel fuel line to run it up high to next to the air filter canister, a couple spring clamps, a plug for...
I see by your avitar you are located in Florida? If so, In Florida, a firearm in a vehicle must be securely encased or not readily accessible for immediate use, unless it is concealed on your person.
So if you have it mounted in a holster and get stopped by LEO, prepare to be swatted. You...
Perhaps I am just a simpleton, but if we have two 12V batteries in series to make a 24V system - instead of using a converter, why not tap off the first battery's system ground and 12V, install a circuit breaker, or bus fuse, then a fuse box for the individual 12V circuits?
What do I know? This...
As some mmight recall, my wife refused to ride in the rig so I have been on the warpath to make it appealing to her on the cheap.
I found these grab handles to assist her getting in. At about $21 a pair I installed six so far and I might add one more pair.
RV Handle
While the handle itself...
I'll post mu 2Cents.
I did not want to spend a ton of $ on a rig that I wanted to keep minimalist.
Before you do any audio work on a diesel, you need to do some sound deadening or you are wasting your time. I used Kilmat and marine carpeting paying extra attention to the dog house where most...
Just a thought - it might be cheaper and better to just have a good local tranny shop rebuild your existing unit. Then you do not have to worry if you get an early unit vs a late model unit.
The early units had a different location for the cooling fittings. The later units had fixes that make...
That easy! HMMWV tax!
Seriously, I cannot really opine about either system, except to say that a lot of folks have reported fires because the start switch replacement could not handle the load. You can search for the threads about the switch to key replacements and the ones that come out of...
Maybe a M998 is different but the stock starter is really, really heavy and there is no way a weakling like me could hold up that starter with two hands let alone one hand. So I used a jack and some 4x4 wood to support it so it did not drop like a bomb on my head, which would kill anyone. Watch...
Hold on - you do NOT run the engine during this procedure! Make sure the pump is to the full mark. Turn stop to stop 40 times, stopping for a few seconds at both the right and left stops. Check the level once or twice during the procedure.
Don't get lazy and do less than 40 and don't rush and...
My 2 cents.
I used to regularly attend and participate the local semi-annual machine gun shoot. Only Knob Creek is better.
They usually have multiple class three vendors shoot all kinds of post 86 samples. One of the vendor spends $75k in ammo with his mini gun. They usually have a few junk...
A friend had the Kilmat equivalent and boat carpeting installed on the passenger floors and indeed water pooled and resulted in disgusting mold so he removed it just on the passenger floor panels. It was not fun to remove but that is what he did on the floors.
I considered making holes where...
I too bought a horse stall mat and cut it just for the rear cargo area. That stuff is indestructible. But as far as using it on the pass area, those are almost impossible to cut. I smoked a circular saw trying to make just one cut for that rear mat, and a second saw was ready to go. How do you...
Not that I am a pro or experienced, but I used Kilmat 80 mil 36 sqft Car Sound Deadening Mat. No need to by the brand name expsensive stuff. Took about 3 boxes. Very easy install. Just vacuum and wipe down to get as much dirt/dust out as possible. Then use a roller to throughly press into place...
