Is there a good preservative or protectant to use on cables?

I've started noticing some severe cracking of the cable sheath on my H161 headsets particularly below the PTT switch near the coiled spring. The cracks go all the way to the wires and I'm looking for a way to prevent this from happening to all the other wires & cables. For reference, the...

    Torquing Flywheel / Motor Turning

I imagine the "proper" way to do it is to use the Cummins tool that inserts into the block's access hole to manually engage the flywheel with a gear on one side and a square indent on the other and then put a breaker bar in that tool.

    16.00 r20 on m51a2 dump?

From what I've read on the forum here over the years is that the reason that size is not common on a dump truck is not due to fitment but due to a high center of gravity when working a loaded dump truck and the overall hauling performance where original duals or 395s would work better. Are...

    Torquing Flywheel / Motor Turning

On my old V8 pickup engines I used to put a breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt to resist turning. Maybe doing the same on the accessory drive nut would work?

    Combat rim valve stem size?

https://feltztire.com/ Feltz tire can supply the valve stems or new seals. They don't list everything they have online so a phone call is the way to go.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

For data plates I always look to Eastern Surplus and TNJ Murray. I believe Eastern Surplus purchased the entire inventory of Dataplates.net when they shut down. They both have data plates for older vehicles and I would think there's a decent chance they have some of the ones you need.

Hemtt vs combat vs normal rim identification?

For hemtt wheels on the rear I think offset lugnuts would be worth it. With combat wheels on the rear, you don't need them because the studs on the rear are longer. Without the thimbles on the rear, the rear studs are now a smaller diameter - the same as the front. The original front...

M54 where to tap air for seat?

I think i read many years ago that the air should come from the air horn circuit because if the seat leaks it won't bleed the air tanks dry. Sorry my answer isn't more precise than that. A bit of searching may reveal those old threads I'm remembering.

Hemtt vs combat vs normal rim identification?

This is a combat wheel You don't want to use thimbles alone to hold a wheel on. Here is a special offset lugnut that can used with a HEMTT wheel on the front in lieu of longer studs:

does a 24V alternative intake heater exist? (versus 12V CH48 champion heater plug for NHC250 cummins)

With the big cam aftercooler intake you would loose the heater but there might be other options like maybe a grid heater?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

The government standardized on the gear oil for logistical reasons (so I've read), but IIRC Spicer recommended a 50 wt gear train oil for that transmission and guys have had good performance using that type of oil instead. Someday I'll put in some Lucas or Schaeffers 50 wt geartrain oil for...

Davit crane mods for an M813 / A1 with 16.00R20s

The butcher truck that would come out to butcher our cattle had a similar setup to what I think you're talking about. It swung out from against the back door of the refer cargo box. It was strong enough to lift a 2000 lb bull (minus the guts)

Davit crane mods for an M813 / A1 with 16.00R20s

Here is a video of the first test of the modified tire crane. I put on my sexy steel pot helmet in case something snapped overhead, but everything went fine and there were no hang ups or hesitations with any of the equipment. Tire crane in motion
