What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

I bought a set of cab air bags to replace the old leaky ones that came with the truck. It has always been a problem with the system air pressure, so this should fix that issue. Now on to the next one or three.

    Problem after new HH installation

Next truck will have to be able to haul to the burn pile, a few large loads of bamboo &/or cedar limbs to make way for parking. Thirty years go it was a large open field where anything could be parked, now after planting a cedar tree farm & letting it mature, there is no room for any more...

    Problem after new HH installation

When had my HH out the first time, I made sure that the fuel plunger & the plunger sleeve was clean & freely moving & the bowtie was unbroken. The fuel delivery valve, behind the 12 sided nut, was unknown to me & have learned not to take stuff apart that is unknown, important & expensive. That...

    New ride finally home!

I have put unused motor oil into the tank with the diesel fuel only to cause problems with the engine running right. The mix stratifies & will cause the engine to missfire badly until the motor oil is diluted again with a fillup of diesel fuel; then it will run as normal. I would never run used...

    Hello Everyone

Welcome from Florida to the green iron madness, good looking truck. Are you out of the doghouse with your wife yet for buying it? I never found my 5 ton, but I did get a M1081 LMTV to quell the desire. Post up more pictures of your new girls because we love pictures. Enjoy.

    Problem after new HH installation

Chris, I did that with the fuel after draining half of what was in the tank, then adding another 20 gallons of diesel fuel. Seems I just need to bleed the brake lines & change a flat tire & go run her for a bit to help clean out the engine. Thanks for the reply.

    Problem after new HH installation

Another question for the experts here. The 85 deuce James & I got running a few weeks ago funs fine now. Exhaust & blowby do not smoke as much now as when started up originally. That said, when you let off of the throttle to slow down or shift, the engine tries to die or stumbles & then comes...

    Problem after new HH installation

Another little tidbit to remember is when putting the HH back into the ip, make sure you get the HH gear meshed with the quill gear & the red tooth lined up with the arrow. If it does not slide in, don't force it; you can chip the teeth on the gears if you try to pull it down with the 4 bolts...

    broken inner spring hydraulic head

I have seen where guys have made a metal locking collar that goes over the cable shaft while it is pulled out. While this is locked out, no one can start the truck unless they know to disconnect the cable on the HH on the engine. Even better than locking the steering wheel as a theft deterrent.

    broken inner spring hydraulic head

"Control Valve" I'm not sure what you are referencing as a "control valve". Are you talking about the button on the head under the retainer? That should be in the HH head that you took apart to get the spring, or in your old head if it is not damaged.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I opened up the brake fluid master cylinder on my '85 deuce to find it about 1/4 full of clear liquid. After removing the liquid, it was determined to be DOT 5 fluid that was very old. The truck has very poor brake stopping power (not safe on the road yet) so I am going thru it all. After...

    broken inner spring hydraulic head

I bought a deuce from GP that had that HH problem, but the button was damaged also. Replacing the spring (good luck finding one) after inspecting the button for damage should put your truck back on the road. Good luck with your repairs.

Can I tow a M989a1 with a civi pick up?

I was going to buy one of these trailers when they released them from Camp Blanding here in North Florida, but the only way I had to get it home was to pull it with the Deuce. The trailers were in good condition & went for $600.00 to $800.00 each. I passed on them due to the recovery issue, even...

    Removing, rebuilding, reinstalling Hydraulic Head

Last week Floridianson came by & we hooked a known good injector to the #3 injector line. Spinning the engine produced no results with the new attached injector, removing the injector allowed fuel to pulse out, but with no pressure. Time for a rebuild on the injector pump? This past week we...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Well, I am so stoked(about the '85 now running)that I bought the oil & filters for the '87 Deuce & changed both of them today after work. Its much easier the second time around after completing the '85 Deuce earlier this week, the difference is the '87 is much cleaner & I changed everything last...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I changed the oil & filters of the '85 Deuce that is now running again. The filters that came on the truck were the Hastings filters(I replaced with NAPA Gold 1134 filters) that the military uses & didn't really look that bad, but I have no idea when the oil was last changed & the rubber filter...

    No start after button replacement.

I will install the pyro & boost gauges that were bought for the other truck since it doesn't have the FDC bypassed or the fuel turned up. No need to turn down the fuel now, the '85's clutch seems to be better & the transmission shifts more positively, so it might be closer to a regular driver...

    No start after button replacement.

:funny: After working on it since October 2017 with no luck other than replacing the batteries & cables & getting her to spin over well, today was different. I got a clean bill bill of health from the Cardiologist I see, to come home early & pull the delivery valve bolt & spring. Carb cleaner...
