    mep803a odd oil leak help

I don't recall 100% on the 803, but the 802 has an additional oil drain provision in the block up front below the crank pulley. It is normally plugged with a 3/8" pipe plug. See if the DN4M has that same plug, perhaps it's leaking.

    MEP-003A Battery Replacement

Interesting, I have never gotten an 003 set up for 2HN batteries, always 6TL, I suspect as Guy said, some were swapped with trays from the 002's so the smaller batteries could be used. If your trays are the 002's 2HN trays you can either get them from Tractor Supply, or simply use 51R's from a...

Used thread sealant when installing a new temperature sending unit

I use thread sealer on all NPT threads including engine sensors and never had an issue with grounding. Usually when you remove the sensor you'll find that probably 90%+ of the sealer was pushed up the threads and hardly anything is left in the threads themselves. The threads will cut right...

    MEP-003A Battery Replacement

The original batteries in an 003 are 6T or 6TL , as others said, way overkill but they are still available. Most O'riley and NAPA stores can get them, average price is $250 or $220 if you have a commercial account.

Looking for a bit of guidance on mep-802a.

Are you saying there was a miswire at TB2 that you "corrected" and now you get the overvolt fault? I would put the wire back for now if the gen was running ok before and fix the issue with the K1 contactor first. Try testing K1 using the instructions in the TM, which essentially have you put 24V...

MEP-002A, will Start, Run then dies....any suggestions?

When you were cleaning the pumps did you thoroughly clean all of the check ball assemblies and make sure none were sticking? Your issue of the pump running and suddenly stopping, even with the lines open sounds to me like one of the outfeed check balls is sticking closed, essentially dead...

East Coast Winter Storm - JAN 10

Just light snow up here, barely a dusting so far, but it just started a little while ago. My daughter uses the same term with our dog when he come in all excited, running around crazy! He's got the Zoomies!

East Coast Winter Storm - JAN 10

I'm probably a bit too far away, but I have several nice low hour machines ready to sell if things get bad down there. 2) 002's 1) 802A 2) 803A's

    Spin on fuel filter mounts

Hello folks, I wanted to ask the Deuce community for a little input regarding spin on filter bases that I make for the MEP-002 thru 005 generators. A fellow S.S member asked if I had checked to see if the same canister base ( which my adapters replace ) are used on any other military equipment...

Hello - new MEP-803a owner here

Ha! Ha! another one bitten by the E-Stop! ( don't feel bad.... we've all been there, we just don't tell anyone )

Hello - new MEP-803a owner here

Just noticed you said dead crank works. Assuming it is back in the normal position now. only other thing that comes to mind other than e-stop is the CR-1 diode ( in the back left corner mounted to the board with the burden resistors) And the shunt in the front right bottom of the control cube.

Hello - new MEP-803a owner here

If it's not the E-stop, also check the dead crank switch. I assume you have nothing at all? no panel lights, nothing? If the panel lights don't work that means no power coming into the control panel.

MEP-002A, will Start, Run then dies....any suggestions?

Can't say that I have ever seen a plunger like #2 there.... the 3 pumps are all normally identical, not sure what the piece is in the top of plunger #2. If you remove it, does the spring under it look identical to the others? You really don't need both of the primary pumps, you could try testing...

    Convert MEP-803a to Inverter?

It sounds like you are essentially only trying to power a small number of dedicated outlets, fridge, some lights and the well pump. This is almost no load at all for that 803! Even the well pump is nothing. The 803 will run your entire house and barn, and it will be much happier over time if...

    Convert MEP-803a to Inverter?

Is the barn fed from the main panel in the house or are you talking about 2 separate service entrance panels? If the barn is a sub panel off the main house I'd assume its 240V sub, if you were feeding it 5Kw before. If the barn is a 240 sub off the main and you were using the 2 separate transfer...

    MEP-803A Fuel Gauge issue

Unless I'm reading wrong, you didn't really say for sure if you are actually out of fuel or simply the low fuel light came on but the gage says 1/4 tank and there really is 1/4 tank left. If the gage says 1/4 but you really are almost out of fuel, perhaps the sending unit is set wrong? The...

Mep 831a black smoke won't rev up and shooting flames out the exhaust

I'd try replacing the pump. I'm not sure how the internals of the Yanmar pumps are held together, but years ago I was working on a 701 which is a somewhat similar design and the engine was acting similar to your issue. It turned out that the internals of the IP has gotten gummed up. The owner...

    Mep003a

Sounds like you have the older style starter with the external lever arm that operates the bendix drive? If so, can you manually operate it? If not the pivot pins on the linkages are probably binding up, preventing the gear from extending fully and engaging the flywheel completely.

MEP 803A Low AC Voltage and Alternator not charging.

@Light in the Dark also has a contact for alternator rebuilding IIRC.
