What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Parts truck number 2 got brought home this evening, an 87 k10. It's a real beauty.[thumbzup] Actually it's a bit rough:lol:, but it has more parts I'll need for the NV4500 swap like the hydraulic clutch pedal and steering column.

31st annual MVMVC Weare Rally July 26th-28th 2018

I'll be vending at the show Friday and Saturday. Some of the stuff I can bring: m49 gun ring $2000 .50 cal cradle $300 heavy tow bar with 3 sets of feet $600 medium tow bars and chain clamps (no feet) $250 bar with 5 pins, $75 for chain clamps (unused) long wheelbase 5 ton cargo covers...

It will fit your m35a2 just fine.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I haven't done much work on my CUCVs lately but I did pick up an extremely rusty newer Chevy... ...with an NV4500 overdrive transmission.:-) I guess I'm going to look at installing that in my m1028 at some point. Running down the highway without the engine screaming would be nice.

    M35A2 not starting

Your batteries are a bit low to begin with. I would start by charging and load testing your batteries first. Welcome to the site by the way.

    Towing With M1008..

I've got a brake controller wired in on my CUCV and a class IV hitch. You definitely notice the lack of power with the 6.2 but it's not terrible on flat ground. I wouldn't tow much more than a pickup truck on a flat bed, but that's just me. The official military rating is only 3000lbs on the...

    Wanted M215 part

As far as I know the only other vehicle that used the same dump bed as the m215 was the REO/Studebaker m59. However the stock cab protector on the m59 is a little shorter in height than the one on the m215 (at least for the two I compared). I'm not sure if an m59 cab protector will work on an...

    Air Force Tarmac Trailers

I picked up a trailer today that I strongly suspect is a USAF trailer for moving either equipment or munitions around a paved area. I'm guessing it originally had an axle in the front like a hay wagon but that was cut off and a regular tongue welded on, probably by a fire department. I'm sure...

    Kassel TFK-250 Field Kitchen

Thanks guys, looks like those are the way to go.

    Kassel TFK-250 Field Kitchen

Has anyone found a good tire to use on these trailers? The one in my yard could use 3 new ones. It has 7.50r15s on it now.

Confused? M211... G749... M135... Deuce vs early deuce....????

G749 is kind of the series of the truck. There are various different trucks in the G749 family that are based on the same design. m211 has dual rear wheels with a wide bed with a flat floor. m135 has single rear wheels in the back with a narrower bed with wheelwells. m215 is the dump truck...

    xm389 trailer (1 ton trailer for m37)

Just bumping this thread to see if anyone else has seen one of these or has an idea of its use in service. It's a 1958 and made by Raytheon. The time period has me thinking it may be related to the Hawk missile (entered service in 1959). The m390 trailer is used with Hawk missiles too. It...

    Help ID this trailer

Welcome to the site. Looks like that’s the bed from an m715 truck so it’s a homemade trailer.

New to me m59 dump truck...

They're not perfect but they're on the truck at least. There is supposed to be one more brace on the top of each one, I've got to reweld the one I've got then make another for the passenger side.

    I hate to brag but.....

Yep. Should have just rolled with it instead of starting this thread. Now everything will probably go terrible. At least it would for me.

    M1008, I think?

MarcusOreallyus' post is on the right track but pretty much all reversed from what is on the truck. The driver's side does not need to be isolated ground as it's the 12v side and powers the front battery. The passenger NEEDS to be isolated ground, as that is the "24 volt" side, and that one...

M800 Garwood 20k winch on a 2.5 ton? Will it fit?

Welcome to the site! It will kind of fit, but not well at all. The frame on a 5 ton is taller than on a deuce so you’ll need to make brackets and extensions. The input on the winch is on the opposite (passenger) side from a deuce. The driveshaft is different, controls are different, PTO is...

    Military stencils

Rick was still in business when I saw him a few days ago! The website looks the same to me, you could always call or email him with what you need if the site isn't working for you.

    M1008, I think?

That's an m1028. Same as an m1008 but a little better (limited slip front axle and helper springs in the back). The truck is a mix of 12v and 24 volt (mostly 12). The truck should have 2 12 volt alternators and the exterior lights are 12 volt (along with almost everything else). The starter...

New to me m59 dump truck...

Started spraying a little bit of paint today. The goal is to get the quarter fenders on the truck in the next couple days. I'm sick of moving those around the barn. The other day I dug out a 5 ton PTO to sell and it had the aux output for a dump truck installed on it. So I swapped...
