    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

I have a wing window needs rebuilt, but would rather see you take it easy for awhile. Don't even know what's wrong with it. It has been sealed shut with RTV since before I got it. Sealed well enough. In the desert, dust collects on fingerprints, so I always know when the parking lot urchins have...

    Another M1010 owner

@Mad Texan How's that winch doing you? After looking around, I landed on the same setup only to find you did it first.

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

I can't see running airbags without mag blocks to throw rooster tails when I lay frame on the freeway, but this is a high fire risk area, so I'd better just install a quick disconnect rear sway bar instead.

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

Measures 35.5" on mine. All suspension new with poly except the shackle bushings. The springs were a little hard, but the rear rolls over speed bumps like a Cadillac now. Will have to address the high speed body roll though. If the weight had caused excessive droop, I had a backup plan to...

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

After a lot of hunting, the only OEM squarebody rear sway bar I can find was on the C30, which is a lot more likely to directly bolt onto any CUCV except the M1009. Anyway, there's a pile of CUCV odds and ends on eBay right now that includes the unobtanium fuel cap if anybody needs one badly...

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

The mounting brackets for this bumper completely dominate the available space on the end of the frame, which precludes running the OEM shackles or pintle mount. You wouldn't be able to sandwich the bumper mounts between the OE mounting plates and the frame because they are gusseted. If the end...

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

Used a ball joint kit to press the CUCV shackle pins into the bumper this morning. Seems like that shouldn't have been necessary, but on the bright side, they won't disappear in a parking lot. It looks like they may cast a shadow from where they interfere with the lamp location. Mounted the lamp...

My CUCV spin on fuel filter mod

I've been running a Racor for a year. It's fine.

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

Since it's impossible to find information on this bumper other than a few pictures, and the instructions that come with it are boilerplate useless: You'll strip everything off the end of the frame. The bumper has two brackets that slide in alongside the frame on the outboard sides. We put the...

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

Might add a class 3 receiver, but it's not a priority. I never was very interested in towing with this vehicle due to short wheelbase and a capacity that's maxed out by an empty M1101.

Roughed in. Needs to be adjusted down and to the left about a quarter inch. Flood light from Harbor Freight finger tight, not wired. Will have two after I plumb the draft tube into the exhaust. D-ring shackles didn't fit. Will figure it out later. It's hot. I'm tired.

    Keeping a M1009 alive

If you're getting good fuel flow, a little air in the lines is a nonissue, but if you continue to have air in the lines, you'll have to track down the point of ingress. To determine if you're pulling air into the fuel system, the first thing to do is replace the return hose on the injection pump...

Prepping for install. Will probably be selling the original bumper with the pintle/NATO trailer plug with pigtails, D-ring, etc. if there's interest. Anybody doing a Suburban conversion?

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

Got the bumper. Only took 15 weeks and a hundred highway miles visiting a freight terminal. Pretty ridiculous, but I didn't get bent about it. I'm not in a hurry. Quality seems pretty good. I was enjoying figuring out the original shapes of the plates, as they're folded up like origami. The...

    CUCV Battery Recommendations

Interstate sells batteries of average quality for 25 years ago with an average warranty for 25 years ago, which makes them exceptional by today's standards. Edited to add that the OE specification is 6TL. Two of them weigh 150 pounds and you'll spend $500 at a minimum replacing them. Group 31...

Landlord didn't like the way the truck marks its spot. Asked me to put down a drip pan. I did him one better. Thought about flattening it out, but rolling over that hump and coming to rest on the curb is how I know I'm home. The stones will settle into their final resting places without me...

I like the drain and fill plugs. I like the gasket. Could do with more eyes. Even just one more, but ARB doesn't make any and if they did, I'd probably mess up my other eye grinding it to fit.
