u can tow anything with anything if u know what u are doing . back in the 60's I drove a ten wheeler that tared out at 31K . needed to replace the starter but the guy didn't want to lose any money while it sat. so, while he had the starter rebuilt, he came up every morning, and hooked his...
I go up every year just to meet up with friends that I left in ma.. they been going forever. they've already started loading their gooseneck trailer up with all kinds of whatever. hope we get good weather for once, instead of that cold drizzly crap, like the past 2 years.
I just found the air line for the sprag when I put it in reverse. i just put a tee in the line and when I hit reverse the lights would come on. I should mention that I have 61 m-51.
I put mine on the beast to make it easier for backing up , when I was out plowing the streets. hooked into the reverse air line on the transfer case with an air actuated stoplight switch for a mack.
hey , if you just can't get traction , try running 3/8 tow chain thru thru holes in the rims on the rear outside duals. be careful of the valve stem tho.
too bad you're not down here. there's one in s.c. for $3200 . looks good and he says it runs good. if I could get rid of my 5 ton ,I'd buy it right quick.
you talk about bigger tires and heavier springs ,but you're not saying anything about the front end suspension. all the bearings in the front end are abut the same size as a heavy duty one ton pickup truck. be prepared to replace you're king pin bearings regularly.
states are crazy. I owned my 5 ton for13 yrs. plowed snow for the town I lived and move down here and they won't recognize the mass. title ????? had to have the highway patrol come out and check the vin number, to make sure it wasn't stolen. ?? seriously ????????? even the trooper shook his...
have you put a load test on each of the batts ?? my beast wouldn't start and each batt showed 12 volts. had advance put a load test on them an one had one and a half dead cells . put a new batt. in and i'ts been fine
if u don't care about originality get an air brake light switch from any truck parts store and just replace the wire ends with eye terminals. coat the terminals with a lot of grease and boom you're good to go . did mine 15yrs ago and still good.
