MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Ok Great advice guys!! It makes sense. I have not heard one run since my early army days. Sure I can listen to YouTube videos of them running all day long but it’s impossible to get the full depth of the noise. I will not modify the exhaust. GSA had another trailer with the same generator but...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Picked up a 1990 MEP-002A this past week from GSA. It’s mounted on a M116A2 trailer. No clue yet if it runs or makes power but should know by next week. Fuel system is a disaster but fixable. Still have to check the IP. Generator will stay mounted on trailer Plan is to fabricate a solid...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Trailered home another trailer M116A2 with a MEP-002A on top It’s missing a few lug nuts and has the wrong size tires. Normal paint peeling and busted tail lights. One from me. The brake levers work at least. A good power wash and a repaint will do wonders. New tires ordered. Generator...

    The danger of modifying trailers

At least you realized the issue in time and no harm no foul. There are plenty of YouTube videos that show people who aren’t as aware and fortunate to understand the problem. Usually ending in disaster. I am grateful that you posted this.

What did you do to your trailer today.

M149A1/2 Water Trailer Resealed the lower tank hatch gasket. Sterilized the tank, flushed everything and filled up with clean well water. Now I have 400 gallons of fresh clean water when needed. Safety wired the latches and hinge to prevent tampering.

    Batteries

Optima Red I have them in everything except my M1008A1 and it has a new set of Hawkers. Just installed an Optima Red in a mint 1998 Suburban K1500 I just picked up. Have Optima Blue in my Airstream. Optima makes an adapter plate that has the same footprint as the Hawkers and also elevates it...

Converting an NF2 Trailer to a mobile Solar System

Post in the parts wanted forum for the crank handle. One will turn up most likely. If not, I can send pictures of mine so you can fabricate one. They didn’t make a ton of these so it might take a while to show up.

    Need help with transmission

I would stop using it until the fluid and filter are changed. See if any surprises are at the bottom of the pan and fluid color and smell. Clearly something is wrong. Could be as simple as it was low on fluid and needed a filter change. Be prepared for the worst. These transmissions are...
