Then insert both ends through the cover eyelet and tie a knot.
You can adjust the tension as required by moving the knot.
Beat part is they work just as well in the winter as they do in the summer.
Bought the 100’ roll from McMaster-Carr
I used the new EPDM rubber rope and makes life so much easier.
Simply pull loop down to fasten to trailer.
Takes me <30 seconds to get into trailer.
No loose rope
No knots
Super easy.

They definitely don’t make chairs like they used to.
Chair is from the 1950’s and it did bend a bit,
Really strong chair.
Made a heck of a racket.
Had to Jack truck up to get it out.
I parked in the shade in a spot I normally don’t park.
Went to move truck later and wham!
I’m still...
Damaged it.

Croft Trailer sells all the factory parts for the surge brake assembly.
Great prices and excellent customer service.
The TM will help you identify any missing parts from yours.
Sounds like you have a plan.

A3s are much harder to find.
eBay prices on bows are ridiculous.

Lots of amazing and clever builds for these trailers.
Should give you plenty of ideas for your build.
The GL warehouse in Oklahoma City was always packed and busy, but when GP took over they immediately closed it.
That left a big surplus hole for Oklahoma and surrounding states.
Sure there’s still GSA, etc. but GL was the dominate force in this area
Unless you live in or close to...
The only difference between years that I’m aware of is the HP rating.
The 84 is 135hp I think and my 87 is 155hp according to the emissions sticker on the stock air cleaner.
It includes the year and HP rating.
So this trailer is definitely putting up a fight
Installed NOS wiring harness that was made for a “normal” M101 series trailer.
Except this isn’t a normal trailer and I had to modify the harness by splicing in an additional 4 feet of military 14ga wire and moving the factory splices back...
