Success! I just warmed up the engine, opened the valves, purged the air out of the heater core and now I have hot air in the cab with no fluid leaks!
Man, thats a good feeling and a long time in the making.
*One thing I found is that with the front half of the air canister removed there is...
Today I plumbed in the heater hoses over to the heater core. My Stauff clamps are probably stuck on a cargo ship offshore so I had to use zip-ties as a temporary fill in. Once the hose clamps arrive I'll mount it all up proper and trim the long hose down to match.
I know what you mean. I want mine to be capable of that and I would install a fording kit if I could find one, but I don't want to take it swimming. A full suite of oil changes is about $1000 these days...
Bouncing has been attributed to worn dog bones in the past so it would be good to check those. I would be willing to trade you my stock 11R-20s for your 14R20s straight across!
Seems like no one does it anymore for liability reasons but they used to set up a shaving machine beneath a jacked...
Not sure about the electrical stuff but when outfitted with the deep water fording kit there are valves and lines that supply subtle air pressure to the axles, tranny, t-case, clutch housing, and maybe even the crank case. In theory the internal air pressure is greater than the external water...
These photos were discovered amongst the belongings of a former AM General salesman during his estate sale. They were packaged in a presentation binder in transparent page holders.
Most of the dates listed are August 1970. Enjoy!
If anyone knows of any videos of these tests I would love to...
I like to go deep on Google searches as I've found lots of good stuff on like page 9 or page 12 of search results. In this case I was deep into the eBay search for simply 'M813' which was like 17 pages long.
I also ordered some internal AM General photographs of the M809 trucks being torture...
I went back and re-read a June 1981 press release from AM General and sure enough the president mentioned the ATAC program at the end of sheet 3, beginning of sheet 4 (below)
That reminds me of a train of thought that is counter to the "cover your ass with paper" idea and that is to rid yourself/ company of any and all evidence that could be used by the lawyers. They even have corporate training on this kind of idea. That's a little different than burying and...
Thanks for sharing what you know on the topic - pretty interesting. Did your contact mention if he is the AM G historian or if there was a retired guy (like his father maybe) that maintains their knowledge from the way back past? It would be cool to have an insider on tap to fill us in on all...
I just came across and bought these vintage print ads from 1981, 1982, & 1983 featuring what AM General was marketing as their ATAC lineup of trucks. It looks like they have CTIS like the next generation M923s came with.
This looks like more than just a prototype test mule and it looks like a...
This intercom is still one of my favorite additions but I had some whining in the background that would change with engine rpm which sounded a lot like a turbo whistle. Some folks in the radio forum found that grounding the amplifier itself to the same ground as its power source would eliminate...
Are you talking about a fuel pump or water pump? I'm afraid I don't have any good answers to your fuel pump questions other than mine's doing fine without an AFC.
This is a thread about an unusual heater core install and you'll get better answers to your questions if you start a thread...
