3 Jake heads under a stock M809 hood!!!

Here's an update since the install about the two problems I've had so far: The first problem was that 2 of the 3 electrical male spade connectors snapped off most likely from enbrittlement. They arrived bent, I straightened them, they got bent during painting, then straightened, and bent again...

Need torque spec for fuel button cover (PT pump)

Thanks for the numbers Will. I looked through that TM Wes listed but it only mentioned torque values for some other bolts on the pump. My problem is that it doesn't leak at idle or off-idle but it does at higher rpm while driving when I can't see it. There's actually fuel leaking everywhere...

Need torque spec for fuel button cover (PT pump)

I need to know the torque specs for the (4) 1/4" bolts that secure the aluminum fuel button cover / housing to the PT pump. I can't find them anywhere - does anyone know?

    My co-worker's 1984

My coworker doesn't do much online stuff but i thought you guys would like this one. It's his 3rd or 4th truck and it has 64" springs, 40" Nitto tires, original engine, but lots of suspension mods.

Heater in a can - Now you can have your turbo and heat it too!

Today I finished plumbing ducting from the heater core to the cab and I got the wiring reconnected. Tested it out and the air blows pretty strong to the floor and "ok" to the defrost. Hopefully the ducting touching the resistors won't hurt anything...

    Charging the batteries......

My stock generator (M813) is also charging in the red (always has been) and the volt meter confirms that red = no bueno; it's overcharging at 33.2 volts...

    My M813 gets a turbo!

I took the same route for a second test drive now with the #17 button and it feels like I went from a loaded truck to an empty truck 😁 On the same incline where it was 9 psi/800° it was now 11+ psi/800°. I'm not really running around to do data logging I'm just noting what I saw at a glance -...

Heater in a can - Now you can have your turbo and heat it too!

Now that my turbo installation is complete this heater project is back on the front burner. I've had the heater/defroster diverter box mounted for awhile and now I have it plumbed to the engine bay after cutting a 4" hole in the firewall. Part of hooking up this heater will include...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I found a bit of hidden treasure buried in my truck today! Staring up at the cross member below the radiator I noticed a number plate from my bridge plate set covering a hole. I went to dig it out and found another one in its way between the radiator & rock guard so now I have my missing...

    My M813 gets a turbo!

Today I swapped out the fuel button for a #17 and was surprised to find a #37 in the pump. I was expecting a #28 based on what most people report finding in their rigs. I wonder if M816s have lower number buttons than M813s because of their weight?... The button in the pump read "37 USA...

    Charging the batteries......

Is the Hawker an AGM style? The battery in my seldom used highboy is a Walmart battery from 2012 that's still going strong (knock on wood)

    1995 M977A2

This happens in the gas engine world when the inner layer of fuel hose delaminates from the outer layer and is allowed to collapse when the suction gets stronger. You can't see it and there are no leaks to detect. I suppose it could happen to any rubber fuel line under sunction...

    My M813 gets a turbo!

Well, the first test drive was a success! No leaks, no cracks, no misses, no smoke, no fires, no cops, no tow trucks, no heat issues, and also... no video...sorry. What i did have was lots of throaty exhaust roar, turbo whine, and jake brake bark 😁 The new 5" exhaust with short muffler is...

    998 canvas top repair

I've seen folks on YouTube use Flex Seal on ALICE pack map pockets, M1967 buttpacks, and M1945 backpacks to restore the waterproof function of the flexible liner that loses its coating over time. They say it works well for that application which requires much more flexibility than a cargo...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I think I'll get one of these before winter. I'm hoping there's a unit that can handle 2 batteries. Is there a brand/model out there that you like?

Engine failure, rebuild, with turbo, jakes.

Can the BC2 long block be used with the 250's oil cooler & other external accessories swapped over to minimize the amount of modifications needed?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

They said it was a 2015 dated battery and they weren't surprised that it wouldn't charge above 10.71 volts. One of the cells went bad they said.

    My M813 gets a turbo!

Well thanks man, glad you like it! I really hope the paint holds out and it's a bit of an experiment to see how it does with the heat, grease/oil, and the UV exposure on the stack. I'll keep the group updated as it ages so we know if it's worth the cost or not $$$. I'm thinking I'll have to...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I begrudgingly replaced an 8D battery, had a new 4/0 cable made up and also added some cable labels that the electrician made for my wires.
