    1986 M1008 5/4 CUCV

Welcome aboard. You will find tons of goodness and info on this site. Things to do while fixing your ride: Search. search, search, the post. Read, read, read, your TMs. Ask, ask, ask, questions. And when looking for or ordering parts, order for a 1984 not a 1986. The military specked them...

    Jatonka, full speed ahead

How was it in Tahiti? I hear the beaches are beautiful. I have to ask though; how did you get your "Gun Truck" down there?

    Cucv seat

If you have the space, I would keep it with the 1009 in case the next owner "if there is one" wants it to be original. If not, you can always "pay it forward" or sell it to the members here on this site.

    68 Unimog 404 Restomod

You will pass by my place when you turn south onto co rt 31 towards the State Park. Another member "Zebedee" is a few miles north of US rt 20 on 31. He's into the British and European trucks. A nice rally/swap meet is the Military Transport Association of NJ (MTA). It's in Northwestern NJ in the...

    68 Unimog 404 Restomod

Get that thing to pass inspection and you can take it for its maiden road trip to Cooperstown and see the hall of famed inductees this Sunday. Make sure you pack your mattress because all the motels and hotels are all booked up. I heard that security has been increased this year and they will...

Blown head gasket or something else?

Cracks sometimes are hard to see. Hopefully the shop will give you good news. They may have to be shaved down to true flat again.

You must have confidence in the electrical capacity of that old barn of yours.

    Windshield rubber m1031

Not to hijack post or stray off topic from OP but; From the looks of those rusty/old cans I would re-think using that free paint. All that hard work and time your son put in to his ride can be ruined by batch of bad paint. It may look ok at first but it could start peeling off in short time...

A multimeter is the first thing you want in your tool box when you own a CUCV

Blown head gasket or something else?

My money says cracked head or heads and not the gaskets; oh wait, it will be your money. You need to pull the heads and by default you will be installing new gaskets anyways. Drop the heads off at a reputable shop and have them checked.

    Dark Seas M1008 Project

They are for the vans but fit the 1008 trucks and 1009 blazers just fine. You may have to drill a new hole for mounting.

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

That could be a good thing for you not to purchase one now. The EV industry is evolving as we speak. The future EVs will be way more affordable and get twice to three times the driving range with the new battery technologies their working on. If you buy now you will be instantly behind the...

How do you bolt radio antenna mounts to truck?

Old thread but: Nutsert is another term/brand name. I have a complete kit and love it. One draw back, you will tend to Nutsert everything you work on.

Aftermarket Radiator Questions- Cap with Deeper Neck

That sounds like a bad business plan for Liland Global if they want to last in business for more than a few years. I don't need a radiator yet but I wont buy one from them after hearing about your problems with their service.

Show room quality. I feel I would have to wash my hands first just to look at it. Great job.
