That was an easy swap. Looks like I'll be changing out the oil pressure gauge but so far everything else seemed to work. The original #27 wire was disconnected from the molded splice so we're guessing that was why the splice was done onto the voltmeter gauge. I put things back like the...
All Gave Some, Some Gave All
I have seen the TM's online and when I went shopping the folks at Portrayal Press treated me to a decent price box of goodies. https://www.portrayalpress.com/searchresults.asp?cat=1830
Back at the G749 farm, it's a real special day for family celebration. Great...
That's a truck we'd like to see more of. Sounds like we should put a go pro on her nose to take video. Can you post detailed pics of the small block install? It obviously worked so thanks for posting the story.
You found the schematic in 9-8024 about 2/3 of the way down on pages 304 through 307, obviously. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?106483-More-M135-TM-s
The way you explain it is more like taking a canoe trip down the river with bunch of tributaries we went to explore to find better...
Early Deuce Voltmeter gauge wiring schematic
I'm looking for a little electrical reassurance that Goose had her voltmeter hooked up correctly.
The speedo took on some water and stuck on 20mph so I decided to swap out the entire gauge assy'.
The two gauge assemblies are almost identical...
I wish I could haul the local G749 Posse down there and help with the truck. It sounds like she needs to be dragged out behind the shed for a good whipping. The boys would have that deuce torn apart and put back together before you and I finish our ninth beer.
Out of the three trucks in the...
Did you kids get a chance to Check out what SARC is all about? Thanks to Section8 for doing that initial search, that truck likely served for some very special people that performed front-line duties above and below the water. Instead of me trying to explain it, here are a couple of Snippets and...
Welcome to the Early Deuce forum and thanks for sharing that beautiful truck. Anyone 73 and posting pics on a forum has my respect. Hopefully you get the pleasure of driving that truck and upload some more pictures of her in that sassy Salmon countryside. Drove through years ago and I'll never...
Do not try and camp in the Walmart parking lot with the better half. It tends to rock back and forth because of the high center of gravity if you're a restless sleeper. You'll get both odd looks and applause when you exit the vehicle in the morning! I'd suggest some stabilizing outriggers or...
This thread is 4 years old so you might not get an answer but I'm giddy with goose bumps that you brought it back to life. Any picture of a Civil Defense truck is super rare and GOLD in my mind so thanks for digging it up.
Just WOW....... super rare photo. If you find any more of those, bump...
Welcome to Steel Soldiers where the term "Going Green" was created. We're always grateful when you post pictures so here's a tutorial. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?59917-How-to-post-pictures-a-tutorial Let us know if there is anything else you need.
On the top bar is the...
I'll roll out the info on pics 2,3 and 4 since you kids aren't playing. The others are going to require some input because of their incredibly deep military history and some of you boys should already know what they are.

G749 Transfer Operation
I think the book explains it better than I can. The sprag in the transfer kicks in the front axle when it 'feels' the rear wheels spin so that might be a drawback when using the G749 transfer.
I'm really digging the MAX transmission hoist. That's one fine looking yard...
How many more trucks do you want? We feel very lucky but at the same time it's a burden because we can't save them all. We are going after a grant to see if one of the M211's can be preserved for somebody's kid in the far future so we'll see.
Had a chance to oil and turn a few more engines and...
We had a downtown meeting so I decided to cruise into the valley to peak at the Armoury. It was bizarre seeing this old Dodge with the loud speakers on top out front. Across the street was a hummer so the pics have a bit of fake MV, Civil Defence and early 1900's history.
The armoury got...
A few more pics.
One truck had some welding mods in the back so not sure if they have a military story or if it's from after service life. The bows were set high with a few boards added over the length so we're thinking these girls hauled cargo.
Good hearing from you except every time I see Vancouver in your moniker I'm going to spend some money. The ocean calls me and I know it won't stop until I can smell it. Haven't been out west for a 2 summers and it makes me cranky........expect a visit!
That arnoury is the Phillip Debney armoury...
I'll send you a PM with some contact info. One of the local MVPA boys has been wheeling the Goat down the highway for years. We need to teach our private Registration offices how things work because the Lieutenant Governor doesn't like it when historical military vehicles can't make it to the...
