Not many guys....or girls, post until there is a problem but it's a good question to start a positive thread for a change.
After I bought my M1010 she plowed snow and ran parades for 6000 miles with just regular maintenance. I did baby it, bathed her, parked her in a warm shop, so the driving...
I bet we...I mean Bear.... missed the correct hook-up when we swapped batteries in my yard on day one! That's when the symptoms started but we'll get er'. The Master switches in the mess of wiring is enough to drive a man nuts, but it's just electrical.
Fortunately, all the info for the 12v...
I smell an M211 and that hard-top has a story. Something about that back window and the yellow paint but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Master Henderson's yellow M220 came from The Department of Emergency Management ...I think...
That old Canadian truck looks like she grew a few feet....and I don't mean it has feet....it's longer than most.
Since the frame has been modified, it makes a good parts truck. Real nice shape and with it having the CDN data-plate, kind of neat to be hanging in Montana.
The frame should be...
In order of purchase, mostly named by the kids in the family.
Goose, Larry, Curly and More, George and Gracie, Richard Prior, Jelly-bean (P-4)......and the latest, Piglet.
Electrical, mechanical, heavy lifting ....all the same
When you get a SuperDave standing behind you and he says "It's just electrical", makes a farmer feel like certain things can look difficult at first, but after you've done it once....no problemo!
Now we've got some fearless kids tearing...
G749 Stance / Rake
It must be an illusion....Certainly looks like the right rear is deflated but we have big gophers so she's probably in a hole. Not sure if there is a MV term for it but the bro always called it the "Rake". I'm a landscaper, I know what a rake is. It attaches to the front of...
Is that just a displaced slave receptacle?
On your first picture a cap can be seen at the bottom of the mount. I'm thinking out-loud so fertilizer is flying and it could be an extra wire was added from the "Output" side of the generator, to the slave.......Goose has 3 wires running to the...
Green lawn and sprouting trees
I found the schematic in 9-8024 pages 304 to 307 if that will help. I might not be a mechanic yet but I sure recognize how green everything is down and over there on the map. It's green everywhere it isn't orange, ,,,,very nice.
Just found another pic on pg...
Deep throat size,
Can someone rattle my noodle with a memory or a peak down an intake manifold. Mine are away for a few days.
Is it just a big solo hole? Fuel flows out these two carb holes and finds its way through the single, large hole in the intake, then into the valve that's opening...
This should be interesting....the build team went to Cloverdale before they talked to me. It's the same place I bought paint for the shop van. My paint code was actually pulled out of the "original enamel code" they provided to the military in the 50's. The paint code for the shop van is on this...
Welcome to your first post experience on Steel Soldiers. The site is massive so unless you read for a few months before posting it's easy to over-look the rules and proper forums to add info into. When you do decide to sell stuff here it's just a small fee to place adds in front of a very large...
Continuing the Preservation
I wonder if the kids in 50 years will appreciate how hard we worked to keep the history rolling?
This restoration is not mine. It is a true restoration with a ton of heart being poured into it. Its actually a Continental Preservation restoration with parts coming...
G749 transmission trouble-shooting
I was going to push this into the transmission re-build thread but still trying to grasp all the lingo so we'll Xperiment on you first.
Do you still want these? They're over 30 years old, like most of our underwear. We got shut down with some cold and rain so...
I resemble that remark. With me being on the plains, that would be correct......but it's actually plane-nuts. I found that carb the OP was talking about so that's 2 different types we know the repair guru's have tried on these motors. The link is just an "Images" link to the Rochester...
New to the family, 211 G749
First off, Welcome aboard to the Steel Soldier Jolly Green Giant addiction academy...that's the SSJGGaa.
As Doc Henderson says, you may have a CCKW 40's transmission slid onto a 302 shaft.....or not. The 302 engine is stamped so that will be easy to find. Your combo...
MV Preservation
If you know the deuce you've seen the rot that occurs at the bottom of the fender where it meets the step.
Check out the 6 fenders that were pulled off the trucks and piled in the bush over 35 years ago. Almost perfect.
Even the rail that sits at the front of the box still...
