    G749 preservation

After talking to a guy that has rebuilt these, well you know mechanics.......they make everything sound easy. Its the box that sits at the back of the Reduction Unit Cone and I'll let you know how many band-aids it takes to remove one real soon. Busy, not sure where to start. We'll give up the...

G749 Trucks hard to come by

Cone Clutches Here is part of the Hydromatic Challenge. Maybe with a few pics and a show of either heart or greater interest, someone will dig some parts up for us. I don't pretend to know how all this works but I'm learning the facts from boys that have been around the trucks. The Cones, or...

    Hello from Edmonton, Alberta

New 1010 Papa I need to give credit to the founder and brainchild of Steel Soldiers because it's a very effective way to link collectors together. Push, the M1010, found the right owner that will keep her in the parade route and I even get to visit her once in a while. My days of pulling up to...

    G749 preservation

Valve on valve I can tell you why your Prunus Virginiana Schubert has purple leaves but I can't tell you how this Transmission Control Valve works. What I can tell you is 3 yt 8613834 and Z 7411503 work with each other. 3 is a valve and it gets hung up easily when Z tells it to release...

    G749 preservation

I will follow this up with pictures as soon as I get my books back....... Meanwhile, A Landscaper an Excavator and his kid walk into a bar. We kept walking into it so we decided to lean it up against the bumper so we wouldn't walk into it anymore. We're re-purposing a few cabs so we...

G749 Trucks hard to come by

Are you buying or building? I know of two projects running on this side of the border and both will be low to mid 5 digit projects. Most require complete tear downs and re-builds if they've been sitting. I am finding crate transmissions but they've also been sitting. The cone clutch seems to be...

    Someone hit my truck!!

Deuce Accident That would ruin my day! Best of luck with the solutions and do you like Whiskey? Good day to share a drink! Not sure about your deuce but this chart comes out of the Early Deuce TM. 9-1819AC. Should give a guy a guide on how things are supposed to square up.

    M220 AirPak rebuild.

This would be an opportunity for someone with a ton of air-pak experience to jump in and give us some feedback. It's only a big deal if what we add melts rubber and gums up the seals.....like the time I put motor oil into a chevy brake reservoir. lol. I think the book says OHT but nailing down...

    CUCV Roadtrip Today

That whole unit just looks solid, beefy, how does it ride? My dually pounds the heck out of me but our frost heaving roads don't help. I like the fuel cost. $0.00. Sounds like the price we're getting for Alberta premium crude. Can you tell us about the fancy gauge and how you wired it in? You...

    M220 AirPak rebuild.

I'm just the guitar player on the fence but I will follow up with the tool. I could schpeculate that it's just a socket but I'll ask the boys. These pictures just showed up on my phone. The new G749 team are taking pictures so I'll grab some once the 'get er done' panic is over.

    M220 AirPak rebuild.

Air-pak dismantled A couple of northern, fabricating, tin bashing, mechanically inclined young bucks that don't mind sharing their success couldn't get that big piece to un-thread from its perch.....so they made a tool. It's a socket with wings which could help someone down the road.

    The unofficial g749 picture thread

Back in the good old late 70's, Crown Assets was tasked with selling surplus military vehicles. A limited group of folks had the resources to make those purchases. I've tracked most of them down and one of them just happens to be an MVPA mentor and all round great guy. He passed me these...

The differences in the M135/M211 Wheel hubs......pictures measurements

G749 hub differences No measurements yet but you're going to need to type slower so I can keep up with all the mechanical lingo you're laying down. I speak Latin for part of the day so describing the measurements you need from the following pictures would help me on the learning curve. In the...

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

We did a Military Family Resource Show years ago and all the single ladies, all the single ladies, all the single ladies wouldn't leave the 1010 alone. You're in for a big surprise how many nurses love the man with 4 beds!

    G749 preservation

I'll send you a PM with some info..... ......and to SuperDave, between you and the western warehouse, there isn't enough money around to pull everything off the shelf. There are two crated, rusty???transmissions there still from BA, 2 trucks, 3 M38XX jeeps, a shed full of M38 parts, tires...

    G749 preservation

Deep within the jungles of sea containers in the hidden world of MV collectors, we're still finding parts. The odd-ball items are a front bumper, pintle attachment and a rare winter front for the G749 trucks. The Preservation continues.

    The Deuce and the dragstrip

We don't need a quarter mile track to compare all the trucks. We're lucky up here with plenty of empty, flat, prairie roads so our first rule is make sure we're all complying with the local road rules. Rolling off a set of lights where the speed limit is greater than 50mph with a soldier "B"...

    M1010 Adventures

The adventure continues. Hopefully this post will encourage a few CUCV owners to crawl under the trucks and check out their wiring....after their landscaper puts the starter in. I am certainly no mechanic. The phone rings shortly after Push drove away. The 15 mile trip north of Edmonton was...

    M1010 Adventures

Sftpoctmv After turning down several offers to unknown buyers, my personal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Military Vehicles ...the SFTPOCTMV... found the right buyer. Push the 1010 will continue her adventures and still be a part of the parade route. I'm hoping to get these boys...
