Heck yeah! I'm sure it is a pricey item if purchased new! TRM's are cool. You just have to know how to translate sometimes
Some really cool guy gave me a copy of some important TM's including the ABS MWO. What a guy :P
Thanks David. I actually just found something in the wiring diagram called a tach transmitter. I think it is the same thing. The wires from it are numbers 994 and 995. They don't tie into the vehicle electrical system. They only lead to the diagnostic connector. I guess it gives tach data...
Does anyone know what this thing does? Mine is missing. The manuals haven't told me anything about it. I think it might have to do with the tranmssion shift points, but I haven't been able to trace the wires yet. It mounts in between the tach and the tach cable.
RE: Found the noise!
Oh, the one in the housing is stripped? That should be a PITA. If someone managed to strip the square hole out of the plug, they must have really been cranking on it. Just don't break the ez-out off in the plug or you will have an even bigger problem. Good luck!
The only 12v part on the 5.9 you should have to swap is the shut down solenoid. You may be able to adapt the 24v one off of the 8.3 CTA in the 939A2 trucks or if you check with Cummins there may be a 24v application listed. You should be able to make the gauges work with a few adapters from...
PS, is there any difference between a 6TL and a 6TMF battery? All of mine are 6TMF.
Ahh, never mind, a simple google revealed that the 6TMF are "maintenance free" batts. It seems they were all made in 2002 so they may be OK. We'll see.
Pulled the 4 batts out of the truck today. That was fun lifting them out of the batt box and then to the ground by myself. Ooof, my aching back. I brought them to my office to see if they would take a charge and then recondition them with EDTA if need be. I had a very pleasant surprise when...
Congrats on all your progress Bjorn! I wish you weren't clear across the state or I'd come help out. Course I have my hands full of 923 projects at the moment ;)
Finally got some stuff done on the truck today. Only had an hour or so to work on it, but I got the axle-shaft greased and in, the spindle bolted up and the brake spider mounted. The fitting on the CTIS line where it hooks to the spindle is rusted solid so I need to source one of those...
I can't wait to go back down there and pick some more parts. It's really easy to get around the trucks since he keeps roads mowed in and around them. Even though it was freezing outside when I was there it was nice not to have to worry about bees, ticks, chiggers, snakes, etc... I'd much...
