I wouldn't worry to much about a plate light. I don't have one on mine and no one has said anything yet about it. Heck I didn't even hang the plate on it for about 2 months before I restored it and no one even noticed that. My buddy John keeps the plate in the glove box of his, been that way...
Only color they were issued in were 24087 dark od (Army) and 24052 forrest (Marines). As they were passed around they recieved all kinds of different paint jobs, Strata blue, Navy grey, and others. But the original under it all is either 24087 or 24052.
The doors and cab pieces can be found easily. They are just about the same as the civvy J10 stuff. Just a few minor changes need to be made to fit them to a M715.
The www.m715zone.com can get you up to speed on them, but is down right now due to a server crash. Day by day we are regaining stuff there. Also a temp message board has been set up to post questions on.
Looks like a great find. To bad the tailgate is so beat up. That's one of the hardest...
My 67' M35 is 0125 34271 with hood #'s pf 4K8941. Everything I found while restoring the truck indicated that it's a 67' not a 66' so it must be a carry over truck that was built in early 67'
Memphis charges for Fenders?
I think they were $280-290 somewhere around that. As far a shipping I have no idea because I sent someone to pick them up to save shipping costs.
Looks great. It should be a great looking truck once it's all painted up in 24087. If you need markings for it once it's done, just let me know. I've been cutting them for a while now and have them for M35's. http://home.thinkextreme.net/~schwarzd/
John at Memphis went out of his way to help me out when I ordered my new front fenders. I had a couple of racers from my shop heading to Memphis for a race and figured I would have them pick my items up to save the frieght charges. Memphis Equip strips and reprimes thier NOS front fenders...
I took both my deuce and my M715 to a local 4x4 show. They drew quite the crowds around them and I must have answered a million questions over the coarse for the day. The .50 cal on the M715 was a big hit as everyone wanted to climb in the bed and have thier picture taken like they were...
This guy on ebay has them up all the time. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfromZR9QQfromZR9QQfrppZ25QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsassZrmedges2lo0QQsspagenameZSTRKQ3aMEFSRCHQ3aSRCH
I got mine from him 2 years ago for my M715. It's a nice looking piece and most people don't even notice that it's a resin...
Looks good! If you are thinking about putting markings on it, let me know. I've been making them for the M715 guys on the M715zone.com for a couple of years now and now that I have a deuce I've been making them also. I recently put up a little web page for them. Delta Team Decals...
I've had a similar problem with my pass. door. The inside handle works fine but the outer does nothing. After pulling out the mechanism from the door I could see what the problem was. When you turn the outer handle, it turns an eccentric ring with an ear off one side. That ear pushes against...
Yep, air tanks were relocated due to the hydralic pump for the dump bed. I'm hoping to modify a spare mount to put it back on the truck in the stock location and moving the air tanks up a little more to where the pioneering rack should be. I bought the truck with the dump mod already done, or...
24087 green is kind of funny. In some light it looks brownish, and in some light it looks more blackish. I really like that about it. Helps it blend into the background colors.
It's the large show & swap meet held every year in Clare at General Jim's. It's put on by the http://www.greatlakesmvpa.org and will be the weekend of Aug. 25-27 2006
Thanks guys,
wallew, The truck is painted with Gillespie #24087 green. It's the proper green for 60's era US Army trucks.
Armada, The markings are ones that I made myself. I have been making them for the M715 guys for a couple of years now. I just started making them for the deuce since I...
I took some new pics the other day of my restored M35 that I finished up last Nov. It snowed before I could get some decent pics of it completed. Now that the snow is gone I took some recent pics. Enjoy!
Nope the dump was on the truck when I bought it. It looks like it was pulled from a standard dump truck and fitted under the duece. The lift is a Venco # VC520. You are welcome to come down anytime to take a closer look if you need.
I will definately be reminding everyone once it gets closer to the time of the show. I just wanted to get it out there so people could get an idea of when it will be.
ojsdna744, your truck doesn't have to be perfect to show up. There will be military vehicles in all forms of stages there...
