You have your hands full with this truck.
What's it's history? where did you get it ?
auction ? private party?
reason I'm asking is the more you know and the more you can tell us the better for us to be able to help you.
Obviously like you now know your breaking system is contaminated.
your...
Sold mine but I'd suggest a WTB in the Parts wanted section of this board.
As well as on the G.503 board HMMWV parts wanted section.
Also over on www.Hummermarketplace.com HMMWV parts wanted section
Ted Gates sold the majority of them to most of us. Drop him a PM
I think he is out right now but...
Radio trays are fairly cheap. mount as much stuff to one of them as you want. .The next guy can source a new radio tray or buy two of them .
Keep one original then get as creative as you want with the other.
Same thing with the light bar. buy a IBES TEK one and use the brackets that come with...
The 524 goes with the older VIC-1 system
The VIC-3 and VIC-3 lite go with the newer radios but I believe they can work as a stand alone system without a radio.
I'll let him reply regarding cost.
Forgive me but I don't understand why it matters. If you want to install stuff normally not found on them what difference does it make ?
it's your truck . If your goal is to keep it all original then you will find a hole to fit the part. If your modifying it to fit your needs your going to have...
86 humv has Vic 3 systems complete some times. lite series and full size
Others have gone with non military style systems.
Are you trying to incorporate it with any military radios?
The VIC 1 system is the older version for the 524 series radios.
If it wasn't making that noise before I'd take it back to the place that has your ungodly sum of money and tell them to fix it.
I'm guessing the place you took it isn't a HMMWV mechanic. But surely they would have to admit that isn't normal.
the fact they left a few things loose doesn't instill...
Agreed.
once you open the inspection plug on transfer case it will be very obvious.
if your getting red colored fluid out of your air filter housing it's even more obviously you have a broken cooler loop (Vampire Problem)
that gold thing should have a couple wires coming out of it. they should plug into a small black rectangular box located right next to it.
see if that connection is being made or if they are not plugged in
that gold thing is the Cadillac valve.
It has to do with the fan . I believe that front hose goes down to the fan clutch.
You probably need to bleed the whole system and check fluid levels.
power steering pump?
Did you recently have either the cooling stack, radiator fan, power steering related items worked on?
you may have some air in the line?
All of that stuff is sort of inter connected.
If you had any of that stuff worked on and they didn't properly bleed the air out of it , it...
Perhaps that question would be better asked on a Silverado forum. I'd also suggest a search of the TM section found here on the forums in the TM section.
Crazyman I think what 86 humv is trying to tell you is to place a WTB add in the WTB section on the board.
You will be surprised at who responds to it.
You may be able to PM him for more imformation.

I guess I've just been lucky . same control box since I got it HMMWV 14 years ago.
I did swap motors from 6.2 to NA 6.5 put new plugs in when I swapped motor, not because I had to just because I wanted to know the history of them.
No new fangled anything just the way it was issued. not sure why...
The original design for the lower profile (silver and the first generation black bearings were actually made up of 6? pieces the formed a complete circle when installed.
I think they substituted for the smaller clips like you have shown because they were easier to make. Then they changed the...
