    MEP-802A/803A gauge lighting

Howdy, There are 3 gauges which can have the inside lit. Your fuel level, coolant temp, oil pressure gauges. I simply made a jumper wire from the pos+ post from the panel lights over to the open 1/4 blades on each of the gauges. Now they light up when I flip on my panel light switch. :)

    MEP-803A Won't crank Ouick Fix?

Howdy, Welcome back to the forums. October 2011 was a while ago when you first joined. I do not have a fix for you, but someone here might.

    Power waveforms & MEP generators

Howdy, Remember, there are 2 drain petcocks for the cooling drain. 1 at the bottom corner of the radiator. The other is a bear to get to, right at the front of the unit under the water pump (block drain) I cheat by using the pallet forks and fill up the radiator with the whole unit leaned back...

New to me PU798A (Mep-803a on a LTT-TQG high mobility)

Howdy, I do not mind. I purchased the PU-798A (MEP-803A) from GovPlanet at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. So it was here on the east coast somewhere. I do not see the need for a woodland camo unit to be in southern California. I understand up in Washington and Oregon.

    LTT-TQG trailer with MEP-802a genset

Howdy, A MEP-802A on a LTT-TQG trailer which you are showing is considered a PU-797A. They are engineered to have the generator mounted in a certain location for CG on the trailer. The true front of a MEP generator is the radiator end. That means the front of the generator is at the back of the...

New to me PU798A (Mep-803a on a LTT-TQG high mobility)

Howdy, A lot comes from where the unit sits outside. Obviously sitting outside in Barstow will cook it, compared to where ever mine was on the east coast. My engine was getting the rust location from condensation. With the temperature swings and humidity, the cast iron block would be dripping...

    MEP 803a Fuel Water/Separator

Howdy, I still had the old fuel filter lying around. I had to get it off, so... Find the strap wrench which fits it the best and pull. Really pull hard, it actually does come off. But king kong must have put the filter on. Just be careful of the edges around to not cut your hands. I have found...

New to me PU798A (Mep-803a on a LTT-TQG high mobility)

Howdy, Thanks. After going to town on it with a pressure washer. The stickers really were on there. All over the place. Then after all the wet stack goo which drizzled all over, the inside looks much better too with paint touch-up.

    Sand in fuel tank 803A

Howdy, I would make what I call fire pile diesel. Use a stick with a rag bound to the end. Place some diesel in the tank. Slosh the unit around and use the rag to brush along the bottom of the tank. Slosh it around and drain it. Again, use the rag to brush the sand and stuff towards the drain...

The new EPA fuel cans suck!!!

Howdy, I don't even attempt to use any of the spouts. I simple keep my marble shaker siphon line with the cans. There is nothing like watching the flow through clear hose and listening to the sucking empty air sound saying that can has been emptied.

    MEP-8xx engine paint

Howdy Jim, After a few phone calls, I narrowed down the color. Plus, we have some members here which work up on the MEP factory.

New to me PU798A (Mep-803a on a LTT-TQG high mobility)

Howdy, I did some touch-up painting on the engine. It's surprising how much condensation drips off the engine with the temperature changes. Anyway, I have come across a matching color engine paint. Thread covering DN2M and DN4M engine paint here Here are some before pictures. Here are some...

Just picked up my 803A: story + questions

Howdy, Some other hints. Sometimes the spin-on fuel filter was put on by King Kong. I totally destroyed the filter finally getting it off. None of the civilian fuel spin-on filters have a bottom drain which the hose connection fits. I am not worried about draining water thru the filter. The...

Just picked up my 803A: story + questions

Howdy, Congrats on the pickup. They live there life outside. But, that does not mean it has too. A canopy, a lean too, a roof, a shed, a garage, anything will last better under rooftop. Coolant = heavy duty diesel type. Note: when draining coolant, the coolant drain on the front of the engine...

    Trailer ID

Howdy, I too looked at that trailer when it came up for sale. I think the trailer is a hybrid, I would think mostly aluminum since it is made by Silver Eagle. Silver Eagle S/A Enclosed Utility Trailer GovPlanet Link I think GovPlanet could not find a proper folder description for the...
