Diagram for a DIY 939 series warning light/buzzer control box

Air switches shown at top left, normally open. Air switch light just to the right of that. Parking brake switch to the right of that. Parking brake light to the right of that. At the very bottom is the normally open ignition switch. Relays are shown with coil side on the left, load side on the...

Low air pressure light/buzzer inop on M923

Low air pressure warning light won't come on. Buzzer won't sound. Unfortunately, 9-2320-272-24-1 only talks about what to do if the buzzer and light won't turn off. I've checked the connections at the two air pressure switches on the primary and secondary tanks and they are hooked up...

Could an NHC-250 be made to run on nat gas/diesel combo?

Like the bi-fuel operation caterpiller engines I hear about? Just trying to think outside the box. Natural gas is still pretty cheap, I think.

How are you Texas members getting licensed to drive 5 tons?

Just got a M923. Headed over to the local DPS office to investigate getting a class A non-CDL (because I might want to use it to tow or haul another vehicle to shows) and was told "sorry, it doesn't meet any of the exemptions on this form. You can't have one." So after explaining what I...

Make a remote switch for the 24V fuel transfer pump?

I've got one of those fuel transfer pumps that you can run slaved to the deuce, thanks to Mkcoen's generosity. Used it to transfer some free Jet A... but I had to use a little auto parts store switch, because I don't have the switch you're supposed to use. I think I can probably get the...

    Metallic detergents and WMO

How are people dealing with this issue? Will a centrifuge alone separate these additives from WMO? Has anyone sent some WMO that was known to have detergent in it to an oil analysis lab after centrifuging it? If so, what were the results? Do these oil testers even check for detergents? I've...

Anyone got a source for any CUT M-66 rings?

Ok, so they've got to get mutilated before being sold as scrap right? So who's buying the scrap that has the rings in them? I'm not opposed to careful rewelding and grinding to get something that at least provides some rollover protection.

    Pumping unit switch?

The motor on this unit says 55 amps max. 1.5 hp motor. That switch plug (on the left) looks awfully puny to be handling that amount of current at 27 or so volts. Is it possible that there's a 60+ amp rated relay inside that box behind the switch plug?

If the FDC leaks fuel into the engine...

Wouldn't running a bunch of WMO somewhat mitigate the problem? I only ask because I'm fixing to run alot of WMO in mine and the FDC has not been bypassed. Not sure yet if I want to bypass it as I'm not sure what kind of power it would generate on 50% - 75% wmo with the FDC bypassed. So...

    Oil canister thread?

What's the size and thread count for the engine where it's tapped for the oil filter canister bolt? Also, what kind of thread is it? I lost one of my Westfolk adapter nuts. I believe the filter side is 1"-12 but I'm not sure what the engine side is.

24V pumping unit for transferring WMO?

I've got about 400 gallons of WMO another member gave me. Well today I finally got around to trying to transfer it to my holding tank with my hand diaphragm pump. That was rather optimistic. After about 5 or 10 minutes I had all the settled water pumped out and started on the oil... too...

Thread with the spin-on filter table with specs?

I cannot for the life of me find it. Someone posted a thread that had a nice table with all the various filters that would work with Westfolk's spinon oil filter adapter. With specs and whether or not it was drainback. Got a link? I bought the kit a while back and am now looking for filters...

    Middle axle out of alignment

Picked up a deuce from san antonio last week. It's in good shape, except the middle axle is about 1.5 inches moved over to the right. Causing excessive wear on the tires and I assume everything else inside the axle housing. What's the best way to fix this? One idea I had was to back the...

Engine scream/whine noise starting around 39 or 40 mph

Picked up another deuce today at Ft. Sam It's a whistler. It's got that distinctive whhrl just like my pampered deuce. However... I noticed another noise that started around 38 - 40 mph. A sort of high pitched jet engine scream noise that increased in pitch the faster I went. Take the...

    Taxes on vehicles in Texas

Looking at my invoice for the latest deuce, I misread it and thought they were applying vehicle tax. Which is a no-no. But that got me curious. Turns out, they DID apply Texas sales tax of $106.36 (8.1250%) to a deuce I bought out of Ft. Sam back in July of 2009. And you know what? Dammit...

    LDT-465 in a daily driver?

No, I'm not talking about turning a deuce into a daily driver... I'm talking about putting an LDT-465 into another vehicle. Has anyone done this? What would be good candidates for such a thing? What got me thinking about this was the idea that I might eventually get a 4BT and put it in a...

Anyone in S. Texas have an M-66 Ring mount?

I'd like to see one in person so I can see how feasible it would be to fab up a replica. Already got the legs and reinforcement plate (came with the deuce). Just need to see one and take alot of dimensions.

    Old fender style... unfortunately

I thought I had completely whooped Murphy's butt. My parts truck had a wonderful condition left fender. So today I got about halfway done taking the bent fender off my deuce and noticed... hey, this "new" one is a good 10" wider... and the vented portion comes down to the frame rail alot...

    Different Donaldson Muffler (M091046)

Ok, so I've been looking at buying a muffler for my deuce for awhile now and I really love the work some folks have done here giving their reviews of various mufflers. Originally, based on the reviews of performance I've seen here, I was going to buy the Donaldson M070028. But then I got to...

    SF-97 from GSA

I bought a 816 wrecker a couple of months ago and have not been able to get ahold of anyone at the GSA office since then. I was told by the San Antonio yard manager where I got the truck to contact Jewel Sam-Kpakra but the number he gave me for her is no longer used. It has a message with a...
