Is your truck still staying dry? I just installed new silicone zipperless boots, inner and outer seals, wheel cylinders, and brake hoses in the front axle. Without the truck being moved at all, this morning I see something like a light oil or brake fluid dripping off the 4 bottom bolts...
I just finished installing new oil seals and zipperless silicone knuckle boots. When inserting the axles, it was a real struggle to get them to go in the last few inches. I figure the bevel on the differential end of the axle is not big enough to guide it into the spline without raising that...
I did the perch flip and didn't like it at all. It did fix the wander, but rotated my tie rod and Air-O-Matic steering cylinder way down at the back into harms way, and the driveshaft angle looked bad. It also drastically increased the turning radius for right turns, but if you have enough...
Looking at the spec sheet Patracy provided, it calls for "Casehardened", but no further details of that. Casehardening means that some or all of the surfaces of a component are selectively hardened to a higher hardness than the rest of the component. Common methods are carburizing, nitriding...
I also have access to a metallurgical lab and would like to have a few bolts to analyze, even broken ones. Maybe it would help if a few different metallugists look at the problem.
I'd also be interested in replacing my rod bolts if I could get better ones at a reasonble price.
I put on 10 11R20 G177s and had the same experience - the steering is very touchy and requires constant steering correction. Handled great with the old NDCCs. I tried higher and lower air pressure, to no avail.
I reversed the shims, took it for a half mile drive, and immediately put the shims...
I have Goodyear G177 11R20 radiials. Rides nice.
Got a 5,000 lb hydraulic Autocrane off ebay, which will go in the rear corner of the bed. Not as nice as a knuckleboom, but a lot lighter and not sacrifice bed length, just a little width. This will be a post-retirement project.
The log was about a year old and yes, it is punky about 1" around the outside. The wood is still solid and good color except for about an inch on the outside. I've cut older oak logs and got nice wood.
I'm planning to quartersaw this and make some stair treads.
Picked up this 35" diameter, 12' long red oak log on Monday. 2 electric winches roll the log up the ramps (parbuckling). One winch would do, but 2 prevent the log from going askew coming up the ramps.
This thread has a lot of detail about adding reverse lights. Mine are still working fine.

I got the kit from M35products.com. I see their price has gone up a lot. There are also some listed in the Classifieds for a lower price.
The kit is air actuated.

Those are the fasteners that came with the kit. The thicker nuts are the main nuts, and the thinner ones are lock nuts. They were torqued to 32 and 17 foot pounds respectively per the instructions.
When I torqued them, I kept re-torquing them in sequence until the wrench wouldn't move...
I put Air-o-matic steering on my deuce about 3 years ago.
Yesterday, while turning right onto a side road, it would barely turn right and I had to go way into the opposite berm of the side road to make the turn. Fortunately, there was no oncoming traffic.
In the driveway, I saw that the front...
I really like my G177s. They are set up as duals.
Attached is a page with some of the info you are looking for.
Even with the correct speedometer adapter (.200:1 ratio) for 11.00-20 tires, my speedometer reads slow. With speedometer reading 50 mph, the GPS reads 54 mph.
Here is the view inside the 24216 muffler. It is straight through, and is remarkable that it reduces noise as well as it does.
I mounted a Radio Shack sound level meter on a camera support arm so it would be in the same location for before and after testing. It was mounted near the center of...
