Westfolk:
Are you able to title your trucks for the full 26,000 lb of a Class 8 Registration? When I titled mine, they would only go as high as the dashboard plate (23,000).
Thanks,
Mike
I didn't jack up the axle for my installation. When I took the last bolt out of the original axle shaft flange, the truck lurched very slightly, indicating the rear axles were binding a little. For installation, just have the new hub set to "FREE" and you can rotate things to fit.
I got a set of 3 Ouverson hubs plus double spline axle from tie6044. Installation was quick and easy. The axle had a shoulder bolt on one end, and no instructions which way it was to be installed. I called Ouverson's and left a message - they called back a few hours later (late Friday...
Every foot that the truck moves rearward generates 3 feet of slack in the cable because there are 3 lines between the double block and the truck. Each of the three lines gets one foot shorter.
The winch will have taken up 2 feet of cable to move the truck rearward that one foot - the 3 feet...
I understand the A3 takes the same winch as the A2 except it has a hydraulic motor instead of a driveshaft.
Here are pictures on a hydraulic conversion on an M35A2:

This was discussed at some length last year. Here is some text copied and pasted from that thread:
With either one or two lockouts on an axle, the differential carrier and ring and pinion will still be turning because they are geared to the driveshaft. Same as with no lockout.
With one lockout...
My deuce originally would not allow the headlights and front parking lights on at the same time, regardless of switch position. There were some threads on this about a year ago.
One PA inspection station said they had to be on together, and another said otherwise. I decided to make the mod...
1. No broken shear pins. The relief valve will provide the overload protection.
2. One person operation.
3. Operate from in cab or from front of truck with remote cable-linked valve.
4. Infinitely variable speed forward and reverse with one lever.
That link doesn't work for me. Here is Lizardskin's website.

Looks like interesting stuff. Have you or any other Steel Soldier members used this? I'm fixing up a hard top for my deuce and this might be nice on the inside.
I was searching through old posts, trying to identify the extra troop seat that came with my deuce, and came upon this thread.
It is 120" from outside to outside of the stakes. The top horizontals stick beyond the stake about 1.5" at the far end in the picture.
All the stakes are the same...

This is how my deuce is set up. I used cheap 12v relays with a resistor in the line coming to the switching terminal to drop that to 12v and protect the relay.
A word of caution with 12v converters. I got a cheap 15 amp converter on ebay. After everything was connected, I thought...
Anybody tried the ODIron kit? I've looked through the threads about electric wipers for the deuce, and it's hard to tell if they are talking about this kit or the military upgrade. Is the ODIron kit multispeed? Auto-park?
Gotta be real careful using a torch to straighten/shrink metal as it's easy to overdo it. I used a "shrinking disk" to get some dents out of my hardtop:

They are also available on ebay. The top had some "oil can" dents that...
I'd like to do the same thing - hubs on both front wheels and one wheel of the middle axle. Does anyone offer a kit of 3 hubs plus the dual spline axle?
I work for a mining machinery manufacturer. We use Nord-Lock washers with good results. I recently specified them on a new design of conveyor chain that hauls the coal from the front of the machine to the back. They hold the side straps of the links together. The application is subjected to...
