Eh, no - it's not normal for parts to depart all by themselves. If the cap just popped off, that would be one thing - but to hit the hood and make a loud 'bang' requires some serious pressure to build up.
It's either as S&C suggests with the breather plugged, or possibly a blown head gasket...
Here's what the M5 owner, Phil (and our club's newsletter editor), had to say;
"M-5 Generator have come up on e-bay through the years no real rime or reason to the price $75 for a good running complete unit to $1500 for not running incomplete unit. Mine is 3 phase 110V 50or60 cycle.
Here is...
I have a friend that owns one of these M5 generators - and brings it to the rally to run various equipment. It's a nice little genset, and very quiet. 3KW of 1/3 phase 115V, if memory serves. If it doesn't do 240V split phase it's going to be of limited value to the person that wants it for...
The best way to get parts out is to drive your M35 into the show; everybody wins - one more truck in the show area, and you don't have to carry or take the bus. Mine goes each year - but it should, given the round trip is only 46 miles.
Good show this year - but I think the rain Friday night...
No, it won't. Whichever battery is the 'low side' (connected to ground) battery in the series string will be, for all intent and purpose, in parallel with the one powering the winch (once the winch battery is a diode drop lower in output voltage than the low side battery).
This configuration...
I agree with BillF; largest amount of MVs, greatest number of general public & club members milling about, and probably the largest number of vendors as well - since you get the average Joe selling things along with professional vendors who may have showed up sometime Friday.
Any day is a good...
I've been purchasing VFDs for my three phase metalworking machines and other componenet from the folks at FactoryMation since about 2006; I'm also very happy with them. Only once did I have a small problem with something they shipped, and they bent over backwards to make it right once I called...
Joe; if you can wait a month I know you'll find the 'proper' voltmeter at the Weare Rally; we're coming up on it fast.
Glad to hear you got it running.
Look no further than Supply and Demand for your answer. An M-101 trailer can be used by anyone with a full sized pick-up truck, and an M-105 requires an M-35 or better to haul. For most practical applications, if you’ve already got an M-35 the trailer provides little utility; the bed is high...
Tom has a great point by mentioning K3; look inside the control cubicle at K3 - even basic checks before grabbing the voltmeter to continue checking. Sometimes the relay is fine but the contacts where the relay plugs into its socket are dirty (or in one case, the relay had fallen out of the...
It's not hot enough today for those shutters to really open; you'll typically only see them open about 1/16 inch at the bottom on a day like today without a load.
I suspect either your starter or solenoid. Remove and check / clean.
I had one truck without air-assist, and I've currently got one with air-assist; it makes a big difference at low speed, and at the end of a long day of driving. For a bolt-on that's not a true power steering, it works quite well.
I didn't expect to hear that; can you tell me what would cause the truck to not slave start with dead battries?
I'm thinking that a shorted cell in a dead battery would start boiling the battery - but wouldn't keep it from starting. A disconnected slave connector, as stated, would be another...
