Focus on low pressure fuel to the injector pump, and then the high pressure side of the injector pump. Sounds like IP issues, not injectors. EDIT: What makes me think this is there should be quite a bit of fuel from the cracked lines - not just a dribble.
I used Xylene thinner and a small amount of hardener that my friend from the local body shop had (I'll check and find out what it was).
Overall, I'm happy with how this has held up. Because it's thinned and hardened it doesn't exactly match the gloss of the rattlecans of 24087 I bought at the...
Glad to hear you got the truck home, Bob. Agree; a deuce isn't the most comfortable thing to drive, but you adapt to it after a short time. On a long trip, or in confined spaces, the air assist steering kit is really helpful and makes the truck more comfortable to drive. You might consider...
I saw no numbers on mine when I had it apart; I'd measure the shims. Borrow a mic if you need to, or purchase an inexpensive one from HF. Failing that, you can mail the shims to someone to measure if need be. PM me if you can't find a way to measure them locally.
I'm not surprised they are that inexpensive - I'm totally shocked they are that inexpensive!
Thanks for running that down; it would be more than $10 worth of effort to cut them out of shim stock.
Take the float bowl off and check; the two MEP-017 2A042 carbs I've got are both soldered brass and not foam, although I did hear a rumor of foam floats at one point.
Take it apart and make certain it's completly clean. Even brand new carbs are 10-30 years old, and sometimes the gasket...
I'd just clean up an area of the shim pack you've removed from the block and measure it with a micrometer (don't use a dial caliper - a mic is the proper tool for this if you want a reliable answer). Don't know if you'll find a shim kit somewhere, or if you'll have to make it from shim stock...
Wonderful region of the State, Bob. I was curious because we have a fairly active military vehicle club with a few members up North, but the bulk of the activity is down here in the Southern region of NH and into MA. You can see more at www.mvmvc.org if you're interested.
What color smoke are you getting? White or black?
Could be bad IP timing. Try doing the alternate timing method spelled out in the TMs and AMBAC manual.
EDIT: Could also be that it's not spinning over fast enough. If so, you'll get puffs of white smoke but it will never generate enough heat...
If you've owned the same tractor / FEL combination for years and have used it for moving all your heavy stuff, you can get pretty good with it. Otherwise, use a very gentle touch.
It also helps to have some adjustable straps that will keep the load from rotating when you pick it up with the...
RWG421: It's not an oil issue - it's an electrical issue with the regulator; it will pop the output transistor if you idle the set. Don't do it - bring it right to speed and shut it right down. TMs and PS Magazine talk about this issue.
I don't understand why you've got binding in the linkages...
Loading and unloading a pickup truck bed is easy when you use the genset's lifting eye and a piece of chain with hooks and a tractor with a front end loader (or a forklift and length of chain).
Read the TM on the 017A; when you go from 'normal' to 'emergency run' you _have_ to blip the starter switch into the start position or it will shut down. There are many tricky things about military gensets - and guessing how to run it will typically result in failure. Emergency run mode bypasses...
The low oil pressure switch will not prevent the system from cranking the starter; think about it, there's no oil pressure when you go to start the engine, and if the oil pressure switch prevented you from turning it over you'd never be able to start it.
No, there is no connection from the AUX pump float switch to the starter. Could be the switch that senses engine speed and disables the starter giving you grief. The TM will point you in the correct direction.
Since the electric pumps are not slowing down, one can assume they are not building...
Too bad you didn't make it to this one, Bill. Turnout was a little lighter than I've seen in the past, but it was OK. There were a few of the MVMVC crowd around (ran across Jim and Deb). I left after eating too many greasy fries for lunch around 11:00 AM. Should have gone for the fried dough...
Did you complete your recovery yet? I won one of the nicer trailers; a little more spendy than I would like but it was only 30 miles away, so I didn't end up spending it on diesel fuel.
The only damage on the M105A2 I got was a couple places where the metal outside lip of the bed got...
White smoke indicates fuel is getting into the combustion chamber, but there's not enough heat being developed to make it sustain combustion and fire off the engine.
This is how the larger MEPs act when the glow plugs are not working, or you're not spinning them fast enough to develop...
