I KNEW that somebody on this site had one.... So, pictures would be great, and I'd also be interested in how they did this. Somewhere you'll find a cable plug. I'm curious as to how they implemented REMOTE. It'd have to encompass starting, flashing, and turning the AC...
I know the manual is silent on this. However that's why I'm asking. Since I have actually seen the labels and warning stickers in the G/L pictures on the auction(s), there is no doubt that the military had remote start on SOME of these generators -- all the details on this that I know about it...
These units were in Groveport or Lockbourne Ohio (near Columbus).
On the front panel when the main switch was in the OFF position, there was a label over OFF that said REMOTE. There was a warning label on one of them reading something like "unit may start without warning". There was also a...
I wasn't the high bidder on any of these, but somebody was....
So..... If someone bought an 802a with the remote starting feature it would be interesting to see how they were configured for the remote start.
I know there was a cable involved, but beyond that I can only guess how that worked...
X2 on the Rotella -- I use "organic" oil.... Don't know that's any better than synthetic, but organic oil is good enough for the Cummins in the truck....
I'd start with a couple of trays for an 803a -- which are available on ebay. One of the trays will fit into an 802a with no modification (as I remember), and the other side will require some "customization". I don't remember which is which, but it is fairly obvious which side will accept an...
I am looking for the part number for the airtex main fuel pump for the 802/803 generators.
The manual only shows the Facet part number (40193 - main, 40194-auxillary); a search of the archives here comes up with E1074, but E1074 seems to be a mechanical pump.
So..... If anyone has an Airtex...
Well, I suppose that the person at G/L may have been making it up as they went along.....
I usually avoid bidding on reserve bid auctions unless the item has reached the reserve or I've been told the reserve.
Back when I sold things on ebay if I had a reserve I always posted the reserve in the...
I think that setting a reserve on these items is counter productive. It seems that the bidding on the units is weaker if there is a reserve. I think it could be improved upon by posting the reserve amount on the listing....
However, I called G/L and asked about the reserve issue.
Their...
I've found on several fuel pumps that I purchased that the MOLEX connector already on them that the connector is installed backwards. That's when the pin removal tool is necessary. I suspect that in the field when a generator tech came on a pump with the backwards MOLEX that he just snipped...
If anyone is looking for these 2,3,4 pin connectors, they are MOLEX connectors. They are available from sellers on ebay.
If you need a pin removal tool to remove the pins in those MOLEX connectors one can use some 3/16 inch brake line. You'll need to grind the outside down a little to fit...
Generally one can expect droop between no load and max load. However I'd expect that one could set the cycles a little high at no load to compensate for the "loaded droop". I believe that is SOP.
As far as taking some time to slow to a stop -- some take more time than others, but once the...
I have several -- some fit well and some don't. I haven't tried this, but I'd imagine that if one put a couple of wraps of the white plumbing tape on the threads on the container that a loose cap might fit much better.
There becomes a time, at which it is better to cut your losses. I have a really nice beige 2009 802a with major engine problems. It hurts, but I'm parting it out.....
Here is a rig that I made yesterday to get 24 vdc to test generator components, lights, relays, solenoids, etc. This could be used on trucks or anything with a 24vdc NATO socket.
I had a NATO plug / cable laying around gathering dust, so I thought I'd use it. Materials are the jack side of a...
I towed one about 500 miles which included a snowstorm in West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. I was towing with a Dodge 3/4 ton.
It towed at high speeds just fine.
I just had a standard straight pintle hitch on the truck. It has a combo pintle / ball. It was a 2"ball.
I did not try to...
Just as a reference point, think of the amperage drawn on each phase of the generator as the LOAD. So the load that a three phase generator will support is the the sum of the amperage available on each phase.
To use single phase (actually it is 2 phase, but for some reason people call it...
