I have the jack, handle, and lug wrench but i'm missing the hold down brackets and wing nuts. Does anyone know where I could buy some? I checked ebay. Could someone take some detailed pics of the hold downs and maybe give me some dimensions so I could make some? Any help is appreciated!!!
I replaced the reverse switch on the steering column and that fixed my problem. Once I got the switch snapped in place I shifted into reverse and adjusted the sliding part of the switch so that the reverse lights would come on in reverse and go off when not. One more thing to check off my list...
I justed picked up a M1009 this past weekend. I've starting fixing a lot of small issues but can't figure out why the reverse lights stay on. The only way to shut them off is to turn the service light switch off. Any Suggestions?
I took the bed off by myself but be careful!!! I used a come-along secured to the trusses of my shop. I used rope anchored to each corner of the bed. All you have to do is take your tail lights completely out and pull the wires through the bed. Then disconnect the fuel filler neck from the bed...
I got the bed back on yesterday. I just used Krylon Camo spray paint over the patches. I need to do a little more blending for it to match. Overall i'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.
I fixed the carriage bolt problem first since I figured I would forget and not have the bolts when I go to put the bed back on. Then I moved onto the cab corners. I cut out all the rust area 1st then painted that area with rust re-former. Then I cut my cab corners panels to just go a few inches...
One of the things i've been putting off fixing for awhile is my rusted out cab corners. I wasn't looking forward to the body work that needed to be done. Then it hit me, why go to all that trouble when my truck will never be a show truck. My truck is a reliable rig that is going to get used but...
Do you have a M1009? I'm not sure but I bet the frames are different widths. I doubt my skid plate would bolt up to a 09. Let me know what you have and we'll go from there.
The only brackets I made were the 2"x2" angle iron pieces that dropped the fairlead down a bit. The skid plate was the only thing that I really fabbed up.
I also replaced all the carriage bolts that hold the bumper and grill guard on with grade 8 1/2-13 bolts. This really stiffened everything up nicely. Plus it makes it easier to take your bumper on and off since you can hold a backup and turn the bolts from the front side.
I got a chance to finish up my winch this weekend. I wasn't able to attach the fairlead to the bumper like I had planned. With the winch mounted upside down the cable comes out the bottom of the winch spool. If I would have mounted the fairlead to the bumper the cable would have had to come up...
