    Finally won an M101A2??

It is the ring that goes into the pintle hitch on the tow vehicle. There's been a few good threads about the differences on the 101 series trailers recently that may have more information for you as well.

    Finally won an M101A2??

You'll see the brake controller assembly at the lunette. If it doesn't have this, then you're looking at an older trailer. If you look at the photos at the beginning of this thread, you'll see the brake control above the lunette. HTH

Yes, you can press the caps too far. One tip is to not put the retaining rings in place until the caps are properly placed. Too much pressure can bust the cap as well. Typically the caps will be flush or just below the ear surface. Depends if you have inner or outer lock rings. HTH

    U Joint adventure

I do NOT recommend this method as you have a good probability of bending an ear should that joint be stuck in there good. The above procedure I've described was shown to me by three different mechanics in a transmission shop that did it that way long before getting an arbor press or a...

    M101 Registration problem

I've titled 2 M101's through Fairbanks DMV, both went smoothly. The first trailer I did (M105) was a pain in the arse. They didn't want to accept my SF97 or other paperwork. I don't know what to tell you about the manufacturer, but you can try "other" as was suggested. Be happy that they...

    U Joint adventure

Yes, I'm saying that you secure the shaft in the vise; remove the clips, then place your socket / drift over the cap & hit away. As long as you hit the socket, it will not damage the other ears. You'll see / feel it starting to move and can get the caps out before you bottom out the hammer on...

Hot Wrench, Blue Wrench, etc... are the same tool; A Torch (you had a plasma cutter so that works too). Typically you can do them yourself with a C-Shaped ball joint tool in your garage or yard, although a vise, hammer and socket or the appropriate size work much better as you have a lower...

New to me fuel storage tanks

I wouldn't bother painting the tanks any special color as long as you have them la belled correctly. For me, the local fuel oil above ground tank stands are typically made from 2" angle iron for tanks up to 400 gallons and most are painted a standard red primer. These stands have been known to...

    ANCHORAGE Ak?

Try Rosie's Delivery, my office utilizes their services for all kinds of deliveries that are business related with the Military. So they've usually already got their clearances.

wheel bearing socket for M101A2 trailer

When I rebuilt my hubs, I believe I used either a 1-1/2 or a 1-3/8" socket. I had both on hand, there was a little slop, but not enough to round anything out. I did use the torque wrench to set the bearing into place (30 ft-lbs), then backed it off a smidge before putting in the cotter pin. HTH

    Earth Roamer or M109? I'll take a M109!!!

Took a look for the rig last night, it was missing from near the dealership and didn't see it parked in any of the parking lots, so it could be in the shop for some reason or they've moved on down the road... Oh well, was interesting to see where technology is going for those that can afford...

    Earth Roamer or M109? I'll take a M109!!!

One of these things pulled into Fairbanks, AK in the past 48 hours. It was parked outside the local Ford Dealership overnight; it had different tires on it then the one you had pictured and the spare was completely shredded! The tires on this one were heavy duty off road wide tires, at least...

Marking Forums Read I've only seen problems with the image viewer which is already being looked into and the ability to mark forums read when utilizing Firefox 3.6.8 (untested on IE). When I click on mark forums read, I get the following message: "Your submission could not be processed...

    m101a2 Dimensions

Your hitch will be fine. The trailer may not sit level, but you will not be dragging anything.

    Finally won an M101A2??

Nice score, that hose you see is the vent hose for the brake cylinder and should vent to atmosphere. As for the shudder, check the fluid level, but you may have a piston actuator starting to go, there's a few threads about this item. There is a thread about making fender extensions in...

    adapter for a m101a1 lighting

Will you be towing this primarily with a civilian or a MV? If civilian pickup, you can rewire the trailer from the 12 pin plug to a 4 pin (or 7 or what have you) and plug it directly into your vehicle. Replace the bulbs with 12v lights and be on your way. The 24v lights work, but are dim. To...

    Brake Parts

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/trailers/44524-m101a2-a3-brake-shoes.html is the thread I believe you are looking for. Found it by doing a search for M101 Brake Shoes. The above had a post that had specific details on OEM replacements. The rest of the thread does not have any other details on...

SF-97 help needed for trailer without year or make, and 2 models #'s....

Yes, use the 5 digits as the VIN. I have two trailers where the vin is only 3 digits & they differ only by the last digit (2 numbers separation). Turtle Mountain is a common trailer manufacturer & should prevent delays in the creation of the paperwork. They mainly look at the VIN anyway. I...

SF-97 help needed for trailer without year or make, and 2 models #'s....

Use the information that is on the data plate that is on the frame. The serial number should match between the frame and the box, but it's the frame number that is inspected (99% of the time). Use the model number shown on that same data plate, if present. I would go with the Turtle Mountain...
