This coming tuesday (7/12/11) I'll be heading up 95 from Charleston, SC to Emporia, VA then across HWY 58 to Chesapeake, VA. I'll be in my pickup truck, so if I can be of any assistance transporting anything let me know.
Some of the oil change outfits use old propane cylinders that won't pass certification any longer (cheaper that way) and pull a vacume in it with the intake on a compressor.
I'm over 6'7" and weigh about the same, some trucks that I've been in fit "ok" and some were impossible. I guess it's got alot to do with where the steering wheel is set at hightwise and how high the seat sits. Also how high the pedals sit (some adjustment here also). Don't get me wrong, a crew...
Adam, glad you got your tractor home safetly. Aside from head warpage, what would be the major concerns associated with extreme overheating? I'm guessing bearing damage?
Even if you didn't need the fuel, having an installed spare sending unit and in tank pump just makes this very attractive from a preparedness point of view. Could also make troubleshooting much easier if an in tank pump was suspected bad. Great Idea!!
I've seen mention a couple of times that 71 and later 2 1/2 tons were preferable to the earlier ones. What did those trucks receive that the older ones didn't? Is that when the changeover from LD to LDT took place?
I ran across this picture and am wondering what the device sitting where the coolant heater normally resides is. I'm guessing that it's a fuel heater? Or possibly it's part of a duel ckt braking system? Thanks
Adam, glad you or someone else didn't get hurt. I guess all the trouble that you go through checking, double checking, tripple checking your hookup only has to pay off one time. Good job with the heavy safety chain.
It's also possible that unscrupulous dealers are driving up the price, not intending to buy the object themselves, but to drive other bidders either out, or to deplete there funds to the point that they will not compete on other items that they want to buy.
if the block is thought to be weak, how about using hydraulic concrete, or hard block or something similar in the lower coolant jacket area to strengthen the block?
has anyone mentioned the fording kit? Also saw for sale (can't verify authenticity) a riot shield kit for soft tops consisting of plexi or lexan top and something like expandable meta for the back.
