Hi, Your S.O.S. should have given you a little yellow card. It tells you about Michigans new money making scheme. Any vechicle that has a weight rating over 10,000# pounds including 3/4 or 1 ton pick-ups have to have a DOT number. They don't kid around about this, one of the guys at work got a...
I have only driven my own m-35, but it seems to be very powerful. Fuel pump still has the safety wire on the bolts so it hasn't been turned up. With my wmo setup I have no loss of power at all. And i thinks it smoothes out and even runs a little bit better. Though my aux fuel doesn't run...
I was hoping to sell all 11 of mine for $650, once i get around to 100 post now. I was a day late on listing them before the new law. But im in michigan so i don't know how price varys from state.
The only thing i can say for sure is, that with some of our equipment. they sit over winter and we fire things up in spring we usually have a lot of seal leaks of gear boxes from sitting. The stuff that we have put lucus in the gear oil of seems to slow up the seal leaks. And some small leaks...
I will be putting that law to the test in 4 weeks when i go across the DOT station at the Mackinaw Bridge with the jeep in the bed bound for Drummond Island.
What you were thinking was what i was thinking. Then i asked the Secretary of State gal why do i see so many pick-ups up here running around with farm plates on them at wallmart/restraunts/around town. The guide lines state that what you are thinking.. But after a little flirting she let on...
I had them done at a local sign and banner shop. She was able to put together my images and ideas. Price was $60 for both sides. More would be cheaper as your paying half for the materials and half for design time.
You must know your jeeps to pick out my tj. That's one of my main reasons of getting to be fully DOT compliant. Leaving for Drummond Island in 4 weeks and that's how shes traveling. There's a DOT check point at the Mackinaw bridge ( my back yard ) Anyways there is a low spot in my yard that i...
Oh, and a helpful note: After a little flirting with the Secretary of State gal, she clued me in on this not openly mentioned piece of Michigan law.
FMCSR 390.21 " Farm operations are considered in commerce, there is no prohibition against using a vehicle displacing identification and/or a U.S...
Hi, I thought i would share the decals that i had made up for the doors. Michigan law says that when you get a DOT # that you must have your company or private name posted on the side of the vehicle. You can also post "NOT FOR HIRE" if your not hauling commodities for hire. I personally have put...
After reading a few posts, I should have added the disclaimer. If your unsure of welding on a fuel vessel, then you shouldn't be doing it. Not for the inexperienced. On a side note, if i had a machine to punch square holes i would have used L shaped brackets with square holes punched so i could...
One of our grouters has a threaded on cap like that. What it has is a chain link welded to the cap and a short piece welded to the frame and a pad lock goes in between the links. You just have to have fairly tight at the point of connection so the cap cannot be unscrewed. simple and effective...
Really isn't that bad welding a fuel tank. I pulled the drain plug and steamed cleaned thru the fuel pump mounting hole. Dried with compressed air and taped handle down on my blow gun to keep any fumes vented out for a few minuted before and while welding. Didn't even get any smoke from burning...
With fuel prices on the rise, I thought it time to fill the tank. But i thought that i should have some kind of tamper resistant fuel lid like some of our equipment. And this gave me a good chance to steam clean the inside of my fuel tank and inspect. The tank was surprisingly clean, but the...
The trick set up would be a 205/203 doubler. strong and a lot of low gears. If you were closer I would trade you cases, but sounds like you should have that covered.
Just got done installing a new IP on one of our bc's ( ulsd diesel ate up the seals ) I would throw in a little 2 stroke oil into the fuel mix when your ready. Still one of the best motors out there this particulas one is in our oldest well rig that runs 5-6 days a week 8-10 hrs a day for 31...
I have been using wreckermans deuce elixer. but have cut back on the diesel since using a secondary heated tank. Though i wish i could score some tranny fluid to throw into the mix for some detergent action. All the tranny shops up here burn their oil in waste oil heaters.
