Ha! I like hearing that. I don't feel that young, and I was driving by the end of the 80s... And not far from you in fact. I grew up on the east side, in Issaquah.
I'll admit to no experience on American cars. However, I do have an american engine in one my vehicles though (chevy 350), and...
I usually rigid tap smaller threads (that I have taps for) and threadmill larger threads (such as the 1"14 that will be used for the filters). I avoid pipe threads in general (I dislike the concept), so I've never had my CNC do them.
I know I can't single-point them because my CAM tool cant...
Decent price... Aye, there's the rub. I'll certainly be doing what I can. I need to do some tests to see if I can rigid tap pipe threads on the CNC. I usually hand tap those, but that will significantly affect the price. There are some pretty deep holes in this turkey too. Round 2 of...
I checked all the straight pipe and even the British straight pipe fittings I could find data for. The pitch matches right up with 20 tpi, but the diameter is an odd-ball 25/32" I couldn't find anything near that. It's far finer pitch than typical pipe threads of anything near that diameter...
So it was a little too cold to convince myself to go outside tonight, and i was on a roll with the CAD tool, so I now have the first pass at a design for the fuel filter setup. I'll just start with teaser pics...
Hopefully the last one where I "glassed' the main body makes the inner plumbing...
Actually it's parts 26 and 27.
the M18x1.5 fits into the spark plug hole (where part 31 goes).
I've been searching for the last hour or so to find anything to go in there without tapping.
The ether kit supposedly plugs that (if I remember the contents of this thread correctly), so that might be...
I bought these, but then found that my heater nozzle wasn't M20x1.5 It's M20x1.25 (I checked and rechecked).
That seems to be an unobtainium thread size.
All I found were taps and dies that size, not even any bolts, let alone plugs.
1.25mm pitch is very close to 20tpi, but the diameter...
Happily, I have a CNC mill in my garage (that weighs within 1000 lbs of the deuce), so I'll be able to make multiples, once I have things sorted. And I'm kinda hoping there's additional interest... This hobby hasn't been cheap.
I took off fittings L, M, and N(assuming N is the compression fitting to feed flame heater).
And I'd have to say, it really wasn't that tricky. Oddly, mostly mental.
Open end wrenches don't fit/work on M or L. You can get a wrench on them, but the jaws deflect and mess up the fitting. So...
Hey All,
The perfectionist side of me and the OCD side ganged up on me last night and I couldn't sleep because I was worried I couldn't get the 45 degree -6 AN fitting out of the inlet to the booster pump, and I really need that to be -8 AN so that it matches all the inlet line that I'm putting...
This is an excellent point. And one that I missed checking out on my own (what else I missed, I hope is small).
I'd heard that you can "pick your weight" - and it serves me right for going by what I heard.
This was backed up when I went to DMV and they asked me how much I wanted it weighted...
Yes Fuel Decals are with Dept of Revenue, excise tax division. The DMV doesn't care at all about the decals.
Most people with these trucks don't have them and have never had issues... But then there' s always this one time...
Anyway, I wanted to make an effort to do things "by the book" if at...
Engineer, yes.
Well, not registered... Degree, yes. Registered/certified/professional, no.
Certifiable? Yes, absolutely (but perhaps not as engineer ;)...)
From Italy, indirectly. My father was born there.
ciao

You find this in many vehicles. Some sort of baffle that appears to be directly in the way of airflow thru the filter. It is done on purpose and with good reason. In a manner it's another stage of filtration.
In your pictures the air feed into the filter housing is at the bottom. With that...
This discusses, among other things, mixing different stroke air brake actuators on a common axle for an air braked truck. A very different animal from this situation.
The office is in south Raleigh and oddly difficult to find with online searches...

The woman's name is Kathy, I'm sorry, but I don't have her last name.
Interesting timing. I just posted some relevant stuff on that a couple minutes ago.

The DMV is only part of your problem.
If you don't go for "historic" or "parade" plates, which I didn't investigate, you...
Well, this thread has been quiet for a while, but I thought I'd post my findings on the topic subject.
I'm in NC, and when I got my weighted plates (26000#, max non-CDL, and about as much as I'd ever load the deuce anyway) I was looking at the registration and it says that I need an IFTA fuel...
Thanks for the responses, all.
Happily this is a non-issue for me now. I managed to find 2 short airpacks for about what it would cost to rebuild them (I'm hoping I don't have to rebuild...)
But after more digging, and all the above comments, it does seem like it shouldn't matter if there...
Hey Patracy,
first of all, I think your truck is amazing.
The broken part is the center boss that supports the rear of the pack. My use of stud wasn't quite correct, although there is a stud in that boss. It's the casting that's broken.
The broken one is the one nearest the MC on the left side.
