Sounds like a new rear drive shaft might be in the works.
My front drive shaft doesn't have a grease fitting either. It had a fiber, wire wrapped cover over the slip joint, which I damaged while stuck in the Florida mud. I'm looking to drill and tap to install a grease fitting and make a rubber...
I'll be coming up from Central Florida pulling the goose neck trailer with the CUCV and a M1102 on it. If I can pickup anything for anyone along the way, just let me know.
It seems you may have answered your own question. Using slave cables it works just fine, but without the slave, it grinds. I would load test the batteries first for the source of your problems.
One is a 5/8" and the other is a 3/4" hose. Just replaced mine along with a leaking heater core. NAPA cut the hoses and had a heater core for me the next day. $27 I think. I added a shut off valve on the hose coming out of the engine so I wouldn't be putting heat through the heater during the...
Yes, I'll have the lights hooked up. They are multi colored, just push the little button and they go through 4 different colors. Don't remember right now what they are though :?
I still have to wire everything up though.
But, this is the finished project. I didn't want to alter the factory dash any and this seemed like a way to have gauges with power ports and still have a military look about it. I think I'll be able to mount my GPS on top of the can as well.
Now comes the fun part of bolting the gauges into place in a tight place. But, after many dropped nuts and washers that had to be picked up with a magnet. They are now secure.
The lowly ammo can.
Drilled a few 7/8" and 2 1/16" holes in the right places.
Put the gauges and power ports in for a dry run.
Pre drilled the radio plate and the ammo can with 1/4" holes and bolted it into place.
It's a 50 cal. can, L-12" x W-6" x H-7"
The brackets, with 1/4" holes, I picked up at a swap meet, haven't looked but you may find them in a real hardware store.
The cinch strap is one I just had laying around, I cut the original hooks off them and slid the brackets through the looped ends.
I installed a secure ammo can in the back today. Something to hold tools and not move around during our Florida trail rides. I put a short piece of 2x6 under the spare tire to raise it up, always nice to have one of those to keep the jack on top of the ground. With that done the ammo can fit...
I always put a little "white silicon hitch lube" on mine when I tow them, a little something extra for the metal to metal movement.
I use this on the moving parts of my 5th wheel camper hitch, it's not near as messy as regular grease.
CycleJay, come visit the Georgia Rally in Oct. and you can try them out during the night rides. Most of the trucks used theirs and it was neat driving through the woods in blackout mode. That was until a truck in the back with headlights on hit my mirrors and messed up my night vision.
We'll...
