I was able to get the doors mounted this past weekend, also got the rear cab mount and rear tool box / spare carrier mounted. I lowered the cab mount so it attached to the existing cross member, then used polyurethane mounts with springs underneath to allow for frame flex. I wanted...
Disconnect all possible ignition sources for the ether, before it gets were it's suppose to be. I'm assuming the either is injected into the intake, you don't want it igniting in the manifold, so I would disconnect the manifold heating element.
That's the way ether has gotten it's bad...
Here's a better side view, which shows the difference in the door lengths a little better. I hope to have the cab done this weekend, and I ordered door hinges today, so should be able to permanently mount the doors then too.
I have a week off over Christmas, I will get the rear door windows...
I couldn't resist posting the latest on my extended cab M818 in the new section. Being I only get the weekends to work on her, the process is somewhat slow.:grd:
Thanks for the response back. You have obviously tested them, much more so than I would. I will try the AF next time.[thumbzup]
The golf balls really are a pain to get in between the beads and rim!;)
I was going to go the Antifreeze route, but heard when airing down, the AF will cause the tire to come off the rim much easier, being AF is very slippery. I also heard the AF will deteriorate the rubber quicker.
Not knocking the method, just some things I had heard, so that kind of scared me...
Thanks Joe, it was one of those things, where I planned on using the cherry picker, but ended up lifting it up, and it was on before I realized it:smile:.
It just required a few more pain killers Saturday night, but all is well now.
Was able to get the extra cab attached this weekend, that thing was heavy trying to get it up on the frame by yourself, I was planning on using a cherry picker, but there just wasn't enough room, so I had to lift it up. It was cold too, but my temporary paint booth plastic helped!:-D
I think I...
I say we need a "5 ton modded and hot rodded" section. I am in the process of modding my 5 ton, and I feel lost were to post:-(.
Of course, maybe no one cares about my 5 ton modded posts?:?:
Moved driver seat back 5"
I was able to move my seat back, what a difference in leg room that made. The only problem, is I had to cut the back of the cab off!:cookoo:
OK, the solution, add another cab on the back. It's going to be a 4 door, but the rear doors will be 12" shorter, so I can keep...
I'm going to cut the doors about half the width they are now. Like a crew cab, but the rear doors will only be half the width, which will make the cab shorter.
Extended Cab?
Wondering if anyone has pics of a extended cab?
I plan on making a 5 ton extended cab with four doors, the rear doors will only be about half the width as the front doors, strictly for access to equipment, tools, guns.
I'm in the process of moving my International outside for the winter, and hopefully the M818 will fit, but that will be tight. I will have to start selling stuff, to fit anymore, which I probably should do.:)
You need to build a pole barn right behind your store, and start a MV...
