You could always build a stealth camper in a M101A3

I went with a generic plate bracket then bent it to bolt it to the lip of the frame. I has worked well.

Axle replacement is the easiest way to run the toyota wheels. 6 x 5.5 can be found in an idler axle 3" tube 3500# You will need to figure out the lower shock mount. Then sell the original axle and wheels to recoup some cost.

Most of the junk I haul fits under the cover, when I do have items higher than the lip I just use heavy duty ratchet straps hooked to the cover hooks or lift rings. I have a rack for kayaks and hauling longer loads. As for gear I keep my table, ez up, stove, chairs at the front held from sliding...

Took my M101A2 to the beach to play. She hauls my chairs, ez up, tent, cook stove, coolers, and supplies.

He is on the M416 M101 Face book page and owns a M116A1 that needs an axle and he wants to upgrade to an 8 bolt A2.

If running stock jeep wheels you will need 2" spacers to clear the hubs. There are lots of axle swaps in blogs on Expo too. Keep the shocks and use a 3" axle You can adapt the original shock mounts or fab up new ones. This is a M101A1 build but has good info on an axle swap...

Scuff the bad spots and paint it yourself. I did mine in the yard with a 9.99 Harbor Freight HVLP gun and it has held up well.

No brakes on the trailer, Just the brakes on the tow vehicle 2500HD crew cab. Tows just fine even when loaded. Although I would not want to tow it with anything smaller. Hand brakes do not work without drums, I do miss not having hand brakes. I live on a hill and they would be useful when...
