I added reverse/bed lights running off of an independent switch on the dash. I wanted to be able to use them as work lights which is why I wanted an independent control for them.
Same thing happened to my hmmwv. I started smelling battery while driving and saw my gauge was pegged. Shut it off quick. Nothing was damaged, hopefully the same for you. I replaced with delco 21 clones on both the hmmwv and m35a2. So far so good.
It's probably a good idea to leave have an emergency shut off valve. I don't know if that has a manual or electric valve but I would just replace it with oem or aftermarket. A picture of the valve would help.
Hey all, I looked around and can't really find a specific answer to how much zddp I should add to my ldt465. I am using conventional rotella 1540 and zddplus brand additive in 4oz bottles. I am the type of person who tends to over do things. So far I have added 2 4oz bottles to a fresh oil...
When you tapped your manifold, did you remove the turbo or drill with turbo installed and engine running? I removed the turbo when I did the first deuce but see that some people choose to do it with the engine running to blow the chips out while drilling.
Regulator is probably going bad. I was driving down the road and smelled batteries cooking one day. Looked at my gauge and she was pegged red. Ended up putting an alternator in instead.
This is a hottly debated topic on the Spicer transmissions. A lot of gl5 is yellow metal safe. The transmission was designed for gl1 and my trans shifts nice with it which is why I use it. All gl1 is safe. I don't know much about the gl4 so I can't comment on it. Good luck.
First deuce was Charlie because of the C on the bridge plate. Hmmwv is Whiskey because the lot/auction number on the windshield started with WKY. Haven't officially named the other deuce yet but I'm leaning towards Avenger since it was apparently a prop in one of the Marvel avengers movies.
If you are just trying to get it going you can manually fill the filters as I did when I changed the filter only to discover the same thing you did. I forget how I did it but it involved a turkey baster and some time. I think I filled the 2 filters through the vent holes. I think the one over by...
If you use the 21si alternator, then it is just positive to positive and negative to negative. The exiter wire is not used on this particular alternator. It will not affect anything and it is self regulated at 27.4 volts.
Edit: I should also add that if you are using a battery disconnect for...

Ok, didn't mean it to be rude. It just that it went from power steering fluid to brake fluid real quick. If they just replaced your lines there is no excuse for the fluid to look like that. These take dot5 fluid btw, I wonder if they mixed some dot 3 in there?
I would check for voltage at the glow plugs first. Same as before but check for positive 24v at the plug boot. Also, FYI. Never disconnect the controller with the batteries connected. This will damage the controller.
