I have, in the last few years, been a very conservative and safe driver, driving 60 MPH when the speed limit is 55 MPH, my brakes on my pickup last for 80k miles etc.
I am contemplating commercial use of a M927 truck to move various equipment, forklifts etc with the M927 that I bought (this...
Dear denizens, how do you use 12v _semi_ trailers, with M931A2 _semi_ tractors that are 24v based?
I need to run the lights only. Trailers are all airbrake based regular semi trailers.
I am sure that there is some robust solution.
I won the following items:
1) M927 Truck in Indianapolis: http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?auctionId=6298764
2) M931A2 Semi tractor in Sparta, WI: http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?auctionId=6292728
I wanted to try to use both of them in my commercial activities of buying...
Attached is a picture of my semi trailer (never mind the scrap).
It is a beaver tail trailer. The tail hydraulically opens and lowers down, providing a ramp, maybe 15 degrees or so. It also has a winch.
Can I use it to recover those 5 ton trucks and BMY semi tractors? They can just drive on...
I am eyeing several M925 trucks with tires looking like they are regular commercial tires like on my other commercial trucks. What are they? 11R22.5 perhaps? thanks
I am thinking quite seriously about buying an M923A1 ans use it as a commercial vehicle or perhaps to pull a heavy boat. (I buy and sell surplus equipment and have a semi, dump truck etc, so this would not be the first heavy vehicle for me)
But I want to know some realities of owning one, so...
Hi guys, some of you may remember me, I created a website liberatedmanuals.com a few years ago.
I have a "surplus business" and I mostly buy and sell industrial equipment. A part of that is that I buy scrap metal and scrap machines.
I have a semi truck and a couple of semi trailers.
I am...
I stopped at the pump to buy some diesel fuel for my "welding shop on wheels" and home generator, and perhaps even for a Ford L9000 semi tractor that I still have to pick up from auction.
I was slightly spooked by a sticker that said "B-20 biodiesel" up to 20% biological fluids. Plus itis low...
I sometimes get an itch to get a 5 ton or an M35, with some business justification also (moving surplus equipment, as my business is selling industrial surplus).
The nearest base is Sparta, WI, and I am near Chicago, which is about 3.5 hour drive at the speed limit.
If, hypothetically, I win...
I won this "Welding shop on wheels". A hobart diesel welder on a generator type trailer, with some cabinets.
4940 - Miscellaneous Maintenance Equipment at Government Liquidation
I am wondering what is the civilian equivalent of this Hobart welder.
Still wondering if it works. Gotta go...
I am thinking about using a M35A3 or A2 as a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), to haul cargo and pull trailers in order to further my own commercial enterprise. (not to haul others cargo, something that I do not believe makes a lot of difference in the eyes of the law).
I am aware that I need a...
I am wondering about something.
If I look at M917 dump trucks from a PURELY UTILITARIAN perspective, completely disregarding their visual appeal:
How suitable are they really for being used commercially as a surplus hauling vehicle and to pull trailers?
Are they unreliable in real life use...
I have a trailer with a genset on it.
I was trying to flip the pintle on it so that the lunette ring is a few inches lower.
To that end, I unscrewed the nut, and then I tried to use the same nut to push the pintle out...
I need to find an oil filter for MEP-006A generator.
NSN 2940-01-033-2780. It is for sale at various websites, but I need it yesterday, so I would like to know if anyone came up with a CarQuest part number for it.
Here's the NSN webpage:
NIIN/NSN report from IHS, The Source for Critical...
I was just wondering, if the hype about how reliable the Deuces are, is really warranted or not. I am not talking about abusing them, like driving in waist deep mud. I was thinking more about general use. Like, go to point A, pick up a bunch of hay, go to point B and unload hay, repeat. Do they...
:jumpin:
A while ago I mentioned that my "measured shot" ether cold start system was not working.
I worked on this some last night and fixed it.
First I found out that it was a mechanical (as opposed to electrical) issue. If 24v is supplied to the valve, nothing would happen.
I took...
