I usually fill mine up at 1/4 tank and it usually takes 14-16 gallons.
It may have something to do with tank size...
The m1009 specs as a 27 gallon tank.
The civy models came with 25 or 30 gallon.
So we may have a 25 gallon sending unit in a 27 gallon tank.
That would explain why the m1009...
Good deal.
I love mine on long trips. She seems to run smoother and smoother the longer you're cruising. I just got back from a 1600 mile trip myself. Averaged 22.75MPG mostly around 65 with a few 70-80 stints.
Didn't burn much oil at all. I topped up about 1/2 quart afterward. I did have a...
Cost of NV4500 swap
So I took the m1009 on a trip recently, over a thousand miles through the hills of Penn up to the east coast and back.
Before leaving I gave her a good look-over. Pulled the inspection cover and checked all the converter/flexplate bolts, etc.
My only concern was the...
ORD has rediculously high prices in the first place. I wouldn't send them a dime to begin with unless I couldn't find the part elsewhere.
If they were going to change your part numbers they should have at least called to confirm. Asking the customer to foot the bill for return when they...
Aye, the headlights are higher watt H4's.
I'm not sure what brand the bulbs are, they came installed in the new housings. Something like 80/110 watts. I really like the whiter (and brighter) light they put out, though I don't much care for the blue reflection you see in the housing.
I had...
I have a set of 24 volt armored vehicle headlights I decided to mount on the m1009 brush guard.
Originally I had some 6" KC lights I was planning to upgrade to HID's. After painting and preparing to order some HID kits I went out to see how they would look. Surprise! They won't. Unless I want...
Mine turned out to be a bad gauge as well.
After testing I determined I was getting all the proper ohms readings at the plugs behind the gauge.
After replacing the gauge it's working fine.
The only issue I have now is that my new-used gauge has a different level of sun fade. So the needles...
Never seen a vehicle with doors that were not removable.
This style of law is becoming more common lately.
From exhaust systems, to headlights, to suspension height.
Be it lazy lawmakers or intentional oppression, the result is the same.
Would be curious to see if Jeep does thier crash tests...
Uh .. you do know the 6.2 is a 'detroit' right?
The real reason the crankshafts snap is because the 6.2 was designed to use a forged crank, and as a cost saving measure GM went to cast iron.
The diesel stresses the cast crank, without the damper functioning properly those crank vibrations are...
Try cleaning your CDR and oil fill cap.
Mine started loosing a good deal of oil, but only while driving.
Could sit for days and not a single drip.
Replaced CDR and oil fill cap and no more leak.
I still have some minor seepage in a couple spots, will be replacing the oil pan gaskets soon...
Yes, but the question becomes price.
Swapping the gears will cost about as much as swapping the axles.
I've been looking at options myself for my 1009 and it looks like the cheapest option is to buy a 1008 and yank the parts from that.
People want as much for the 60/14 axles as the whole...
Personally I wouldn't bother replacing the gov-lok until it goes.
It's not a bad locker, works great, does what it needs to do.
The problem is that it has a fairly violent engagement mechanism.
When it gets old, as these are, it can begin to 'wear out' or 'gum up' leading to a failure...
That looks pretty good. Of course I use my ashtray, you know, for ashes.
Curious though ... why is your transfer case shifter backwards?
I have my civvy radio/cd player mounted in similar fashion to your CB and the T-case shifter doesn't leave a whole lot of room.
The reason they don't come with drain plugs is because every time you change the fluid you also change the filter.
It really makes sense to.
Whatever is in your fluid that would prompt you to change it, is also in your filter.
The car companies don't make cars with an aim of being easy to...
Not familiar with the distance/terrain you're talking about, but you should be fine.
The brakes are actually quite good for an old truck, just make sure you keep them in good working condition.
Whether or not it's to much trailer has more to do with the driver then the equipment. I watched a...
New U-joints on the rear DS.
Just in time IMO .. they were still 'good', still had grease in them, but a couple caps on each joint had some rust coloring in the rollers.
Cleaned out the fuel return check valve on the IP.
Wasn't 'bad' but it wasn't 'clear' either, now it is.
New rear pinion...
