That pic is worth a thousand words.
Never dealt with these mirrors before as I've always had 70's chevies (always thought the 80's style looked terrible) so I've always had the tri-pod style mirrors. I was actually considering swapping some 70's mirrors on mine.
I didn't know there was an...
I hang my tow chains acrost the lifting shackles front and rear.
They make for great steps.
Never had them come loose, but if you're concerned about it you can always use a zip-tie as a safety catch.
You can tighten/loosen them to the height you need.
Straight up theft there.
I always tell guys when they're looking for X/Y/Z "Don't tell them it's for a motorcycle".
In this case an MV.
Price for item = $
Price for exact same item when seller knows it's for a "special" application = $+500% markup.
Has anyone done one?
Would look great with a single 'brace' in the center to give it a hmmwv style look.
Using a scrap top would certainly be step one, if nothing less at least for the section that bolts to the back of the cab. Trimming it so it has a one inch 'overhang' to prevent...
You seem to be having a comprehension issue.
"parts bin stuff"
Does not equal
"standard K-5"
Your statement about GM standardizing DS lengths is also a generalization and is no garauntee. I've worked on cars long enough to know that two vehicles that came out of the same plant may not have...
Two different issues here.
The questions about parts is not a question of whether the m1009 has *special* military parts, but whether it has K-5 standard parts.
I keep reading questions about parts followed with responses declaring that the 1009 has no *special* military parts and it's just a...
The question isn't that the T-case is the same, the real question, is the T-case in the same location.
Civvy trucks did not come with the TH400 combo, the transmission/adapter will dictate the location of the T-case.
It's important to match exactly to avoid future issues.
Example, say you...
This jumped out at me the first time I saw the spacer-swap lowering.
Because you are only lowering the rear while the motor mounts stay static you are tilting the drivetrain more so then lowering it.
I would rather use a CV on the rear shaft if I had a problem.
I suppose if it works, it works...
Indeed, it's actually normal for a K-5 to get 'some' un-even wear on the front tires. The short wheel base and turn radius can create some feathering on the outer section even if your alignment is perfect. The older full time 4x4 Blazers could really go through fronts.
Two steel plates with...
The tie rod on the 1009 is as simple as it gets.
It's a single bar that connects from one spindle straight acrost to the other with a ball joint on either end. (tie rod ends)
There is also a stabilizer that connects to the axle and the tie rod. Replacing that can help with steering wander...
Yeah, it's one of those things I wish I could fab myself.
Unfortunately a 500% markup seems to be the norm these days.
When I got my new flatscreen a few years back I was going to purchase one of those wall mounting brackets. They wanted around 120 bucks for it. I actually pulled it out of the...
Loose nut behind the wheel.
...
No seriously, you may want to check the flywheel/torque converter area.
You may have a loose bolt there. A stethescope, or other similar garage invention, would be easy to track down the knocking sound, but if it sounds like it's coming from the trans I...
Everything comes down to how much are you willing to invest.
I wouldn't be concerned about the GM lawsuit mentioned. The whole thing was rediculous on it's face. It was more of a political 'lets get big business' thing.
I think the simplest (and likely cheapest) solution would be a second...
I wouldn't go to overboard just yet.
Different fuel stations, even different pumps at same, can shut off at different levels. I've even had some that were nearly impossible to use, so when the pump says it's full is not a viable point to measure from.
You may be parked at a different 'level'...
Well the real problem is that no one can say whether the girdles 'work' or not in the real world.
You may install the kit and never see any cracks.
Who can say that you would have if you had not installed it?
In theory, the girdles 'should' 'help' to prevent cracks.
The manufacturers also...
I wouldn't trust it to be accurate at all.
HP cannot be "measured" on a dyno.
The dyno "measures" torque and uses that measurement to calculate HP.
So if he couldn't get an accurate torque measurement, then the HP number couldn't be any more accurate.
There is indeed more then that.
Springs are different.
Engine/trans is different.
Brake system is different.
Model year is different.
But realy, I can't fathom what you are replying to.
This is just a post asking about changing ratio.
Are you just randomly trolling in some attemp to condescend...
I try to keep mine right at 65.
I have to fight it the whole time though, it wants to run.
If I let it have it's way it'll settle in right at 75.
Keep an eye on your balancer and check the bottom end for the web cracks issue.
I wouldn't worry about it to much, just keep in mind that it is an...
Pulled the dash and replaced fuel gauge.
While I had it apart I took the opportunity to clean the plastic cover, the tin cover, and the light and gauge slots, the plastic light covers, bulbs, contacts, etc.
All the while thinking about the time I spent trying to remove a dead moth from the...
