If you really want to scrap your deuce, I know someone who will gladly take all those unwanted, completely useless, and unsellable parts off of it! :-D. As for convoy lights, I'm just another useless entity to this thread...
My steering column was just barely loose right at the dash and it was moving just a hair when I turned sharp. a couple turns on the attachment to the dash, and its as good as new!
Oh yeah, I know it can be fixed, but what I'm trying to say is that it's not one of those noises that I'm too worried about. It's not like a bearing issue or a loose spring hanger. It's more like the body shifting when the frame flexes a little. I've got a day off today, so I'm going to go out...
Eh, I've driven/piloted everything from a 1947 willys jeep, to a 1953 Bell 47. It's not one of those "important" sounds. It's more of a "it's just a normal sound from a 39 year old vehicle" type of thing.
When we had the filter housing leak on the 3126 it was just a gasket, but the others are right, you need to make sure you know where it is coming from before you start replacing parts. I think it is also common on these engines (i know it is on the 3126) for the rear main seal to leak a little...
Just a guess after looking at pics of a 3116....Turbocharger oil lines?
EDIT: I guess either that, or we have had problems on a 3126 with the seal between the filter attachment and the block. We have had to replace that seal twice so far.
Good info guys! Thanks for all the input! I also wanted to ask, can I ground the 12v side of the convertor to the same ground as the 24v system (frame) or do I need to have separate grounds for the 12v system? I think I know the answer to this, but I just want to make sure the gears in my head...
What if I want to charge a 12v car battery with a convertor so I can run my 12v stiff off of a different battery? Do I need to have a some kinda battery charging electronics between the convertor and the battery, or can I just hook the 12v side of the convertor straight to the battery?
12v revisited
Ok instead of starting a new thread I just figured I would continue this one.
I have a Pyle 24-12v convertor now and I want to hook it up to charge a seperate third battery to run 12v accessories off of...how do I go abouts doing this? Do I need a battery charger between the...
It was a dream come true! A few weeks ago I got a flyer that EAA's B-17 was going to be in Norman, OK, which is only a few hours away, and my brother lives down there. The price was kinda high, but my mom had been asking what I wanted for Christmas, so the lightbulb popped up brightly over my...
I've thought about doing this on several occasions....its so tempting... I used to go through the pizza hut drive through backwards when I had my willys jeep. They thought it was so funny I would usually get a free pepsi out of the deal! I think the deuce would be a little tall to try that...
Good job Glen! I had your old deuce idling in the driveway yesterday. Getting ready to go for a spin when an older lady, who I thought was a total stranger, walked up to the house and started asking me about it. Turns out the lady used to cut my hair when I was little! She's had some really...
