Really? Mine likes to slobber out of the #1 cyl, and loses power intermittently and there is a very notable misfire at 2200rpm on flat road...It kicks back in going up a hill. I don't have any milkshake anything yet, but I've always suspected it was a head gasket...any other ideas?
I'm getting ready to replace the head gaskets on mine... My symptoms are an intermittent loss of power at 2200rpm, oil leaking from the front of the block at the gasket, and my coolant has turned brown. I haven't even looked at the oil yet to see how much water is in it..
I used to have a...
I had this problem on my deuce too, and posted on here. Someone told me to grease everything on the steering, and it would fix the pop! Worked like a charm! Might not be the same in your case, but I was looking at buying a new gearbox before I tried a good grease job, and the grease solved all...
Thanks guys!
The local machinist has been in the business for about 20 years, so I check him out.. He is also a proud owner of a green hmmwv and drools over my deuce, so I have a good friendship with him. He does mostly farm implements, so I don't know how much engine experience he has, but...
Hey all,
I've come to the conclusion that I need new head gaskets. The engine is losing power, the heads are leaking oil, and the anti-freeze has turned from green to oily brown. (havent checked for water in the oil yet, but it did make some oil last time I checked, so it wouldn't surprise me.)...
I don't have a CUCV, but a deuce is just as bad (or good), I guess. I live in the middle of a small town of about 1500, in one of the nicer neighborhoods, and all my neighbors seem to love it! I've only had one person in town come up to me and say "Why??" And he learned why after he went for a...
Haha thanks! Upon digging deeper, it turns out that the gasket did have a small hole in it for ventilation, however the hole was plugged with greasy goo...
I got home today and noticed something shiny under the truck, so I found the transfer case was leaking. Like a good boy, I got on SS and found that a plugged vent most likely is the cause...so I went to take the vent off, and couldnt get it to turn, so I just decided to take the whole panel off...
Nope, the spare tire sticks out the back too far. I'm not really sure though, I'll have to measure it.
Thanks plym! I'm going to see what happens by backing up to a ditch first and see how things really fit!
Well I have a wrangler unlimited... I measured it yesterday and as far as I can tell I'm going to have to leave the tailgate hanging on the chains. The rear tire will sit right on the edge of the bed between the bed and the tailgate. Can the deuce tailgate take that kind of weight?
Oh scratch that, I read your post wrong, let me redo this.
Ok I like this one better. I can add more legs if I want too. looks heavy but looks strong also!
Here's a sample of what you suggested John, it might work, but I wouldn't trust the hinge in the middle. I think if it were solid, it might hold the weight. I'll have to do some research.
Thats not a bad idea John. Sounds heavy, but manageable. Whatever I make, I plan on testing it out at a lower angle to see how it holds the weight before I actually use it on the deuce. I don't want to be driving my nice jeep up and have them break underneath me.. I want to make something...
