Oops! Didn't see that you said A1. I was in a 5 ton mindset aua. They probably are more rare then. My mistake.
There is a price for everything. Just realize that what you are getting into could end up costing more than what the truck is worth fully restored.
Everyone needs to relax around...
A deuce is far from rare. They are everywhere.
Pictures are easier to evaluate the condition of the truck and give you a better answer.
Welcome to the addiction by the way!
How long was the truck setting before you took it for a drive? Flat spots develop pretty easily and they take a good trip for them to fully smooth out.
My fronts were at 80 when I got it. A couple of my rears were at 90 to 100 and it rode like crap all the way home. After letting a lot of air out when I got back and taking it for a ride, it was much smoother. Less hopping around. I could see if you are going to haul a lot of weight, air em up.
My truck was empty too. Looks like a nice truck you got! Glad everything went smooth. I had a similar experience with GL and would use them again in the future.
I run 65 psi in the fronts and 60 in the rears. Could use even less in the rear in my opinion. But I have other things that take...
Sure they have specific truck insurance, just like most other insurance company. But Gulfway was not created to insure solely military vehicles (as stated in his original post). How did you just prove anything against what was already stated? I do not even see the word "military" on Gulfway's...
I thought it was 1000 miles per year. To my knowledge, this excludes public events such as parades, veterans shows, etc... 1000 miles per year seems like a lot for personal use. Anything above that and they probably think you are using the truck for something other than historic reasons. Doesn't...
The state made the law, so they should eat it. Not everyone has the time and money to get a CDL. If you don't need one, why get it? So some LEO on the side of the road doesn't hassle you about his opinion? It seems like the facts of it being historic and not needing one is stronger than an...
Isn't it 20,000 above for the GVWR? It's 5 ton capacity off road use. 10 ton on road use. That would mean the GVWR is 43,275. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I put on my SF-97 and all is good .
I would bring some basic tools, fluids, etc... I picked up my truck from Jeff City. We didn't have to do much to it. But I did use some tools to tighten the belts cause they were super loose. Other than that, the brake lights didn't work (ended up being a simple switch). The fluids in my truck...
Davis. I don't know if that is the stock 939 rim. But I do know that when I bought my 923 from GL, these are the rims that it came with. So with that being said, yes, I think they are the rims they come with.
You do realize these trucks weigh a little more than go-karts right?. Like watch changing a tire with your kid around... cause it would likely crush him pretty good if it fell on him. Parts on a deuce don't weigh as much as parts for the 5 ton. But it's all heavy work and requires a...
Make: Am General
Model: M923A1
Style: Truck
I see no point in saying "ex military" truck or so forth. It's a big truck. Who cares if it's painted camo? It's their responsibility to look at what it is. They should know once you say AM General that it is something different. What's the difference...
As much as it's worth to you. The price of the truck is the price someone is willing to pay. There were a few trucks coming from Jeff City not too long ago. There were about 15 trucks that went at once and I kicked myself for not getting one cause they were fresh rebuilds. Then two more came up...
