Another good idea is look for a MVPA or Steel Soldiers group gathering in your area. Take a day or two to visit with other owners. You will probably find someone who will help get you up to date on safety, maintenance and other stuff you need to know. Also a good place to source parts and...
For wiring, I just bought a U-Haul $30 magnetic light setup. I then went to NAPA and got 24 volt bulbs. You can then use a military plug and plug into the trailer plug, or tap into the turn signal and light wires before they go into the military plug. This gives you lights, but not power for...

My gosh, you don't realize how much you depend on this resource, till it goes down! I could not reach other members for help or research the forum articles that i always figured I could access any time. Now I can get back to installing my Westac pyro......
Thanks to whoever fixed it!
Important stuff
IMHO-
Most important - Stop (brakes) remember single circuit brakes, one leak-no stop! Including air and hydraulic systems and don't forget parking brake.
Next - Steering, for obvious reasons
Next - suspension (affects stop and steer) including axle alignment, if...
I also swapped a couple of tires around to get the best ones on the ground. They all had good tread, but one was badly weather checked. I stopped early to check wheel bearings for heat and then checked them every time I stopped. I used a set of magnetic stick on lights (12V). Good luck with...
Southbreeze- Yep, I will be on that MVPA AlCan convoy this summer, with wife, daughter and grandkids! The whole month of August camping through Yukon and Alaska with a bunch of "greenies". Should be a blast. First gear, Dawson Creek BC, Aug. 4. You can follow us on the MVPA website or...
I pulled my trailers individually, from the base in Anchorage and stacked them offsite. A friend had a backhoe and we used that to stack the trailers. I imagine that most any towing or crane outfit would lift the top unit. It took less than one hour to flip, spot and secure using the backhoe...
Welcome to the asylum!
The tires will be the easy part. If you are using 14's 14.5's or other wide tires you will need wheels that are wider than stock. Then you have to choose one piece or two piece and new custom wheels or 5 ton wheels (or Hemett wheels) that will have to have a new center...
The TM's will give you torque specs for the filter cans. Experience shows me that you need to use that torque wrench. On mine the Fuel Density Compensator was bypassed, which is fine with me (another place for a leak - into the oil sump). My intake manifold heater leaked onto the turbo...
Hey Zout- I feel your pain. While in tech school welding class (with all the right safety gear?) I had a big ball of slag go through the tongue area of my lace up boots. It burned a 1/2" hole about 1/2 way through my foot. The class area had a big central cooling tank and I stuck my whole...

The smarta..... answer to her is that working on it will keep you occupied so she can go to toenail painting parties with her girlfriends! In my case I am taking the M35A2 and spending all of August with my wife, daughter and her kids on a month long trip on the AlaskaCanada Highway...
definition of acceleration
A friend sent this to me.......can't verify it, but it sounds about right!
Definition of Acceleration
One top fuel dragster 500 cubic inch Hemi engine makes more horsepower than the first 4 rows of stock cars at the Daytona 500.
Under full throttle, a dragster...
If I am not mistaken, I think the nitro cars use only one gear. They just engage the clutch in stages, trying not to smoke the tires. They totally burn up the clutch on every run!
