A3 axle
I was curious about the fact that the one trailer had a wider axle. The 8 bolt wheels are the same on both trailers, ditto for the hand brakes, etc. Figured the motorpool did a swap for a different axle at some point, but was not sure what axle they used.
Recovery of two M101A2 trailers from Anchorage, AK
A couple of months ago, I won two ¾ ton trailers on a GL auction in Anchorage. I was working, so a friend pulled the units from the base to his house. Anchorage is about 750 road miles, plus a 60 mile ferry ride from my home in Juneau. Early...
Definately not an M37, though similar. The M37 bed floor is steel, not wood. The bed fenders are not the same, the hood is different, etc. It does look like a great project though. If the asking price is reasonable I would grab it up......
OK! My Anchorage buddy pulled these out of GL for me. He took the picture. These are in real good shape. Paint, covers, tires all excellent. I will fire up the Bobber in Aug and make a road trip to Anchorage to recover them. It's about 800 miles each way as I remember. It will give me a...
Just a thank you to Joyce at GL in Ft. Lewis, WA. It was my first visit to a base and a GL warehouse. Joyce was quite helpful in getting me onto the base and helping with finding what I was interested in. Bravo!
which size, model, part # of military tow bar do you use for the M37? I would like to tow my M37 behind by M35A2. any info on identification and supplier would help.:driver:
Hey Zout- I'm thinking that USPS must have messed up again! I figured you had just got busy and I did not want to sound like I was complaining or whatever. I will check with the boss and be sure that she did not pick up something at the PO and "put it away for me", but she is usually real good...
It seems to be real random. I am seeing a lot of auctions for M101's that still require EUC, while other bid lots don't require EUC for the same item! My buddy picked up my two M101A2's yesterday, in Anchorage. He said that they are like new! Tires like new, paint like new, one canvas a...
Thanks for the details. I am a mechanic, not a painter, so we will see how I do. It will be this fall before I get to it and of course, SE Alaska is very humid.
Looks great! Did you say you were using a base coat/clear coat? Or is it just Urethane Enamel? What kind of primer did you use? did you ospho it first? Thanks for the lessons!
this is a great thread! I appreciate the info. I will be checking into both the Westach and Isspro gauges, but your installation details are a real help. Good luck finding your technical problem.
Sounds like I ought to get one for the deuce and one for the turbo diesel M37 I am building. did you get the weld bushing from them also? Was the 10 foot kit long enough? Thanks
I learned to drive on my Grandad's ranch in his old M38 jeep. I thought it was fun, but he had me hauling fence materials, etc., so I learned to work at the same time I learned to drive! Great truck.
Jay- sounds like you have a good base of knowledge for this project. I have not used anything but AlfaLaval's for over 30 years now. the Mapx series are great machines. I have though about getting one of those cute little ones (is it a 102?) myself. I agree a CoOp type thing might be good...
exbrown- If you do this, just be careful who you let work on it. I run AlfaLaval centrifuges on ships and they are wonderful machines. They also spin at 20,000 RPM or so, depending on type and application. The bowl assemblies can weight 300 lbs or so. If put together wrong or imbalanced...
