What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I didn't take it out, but I unbolted it from the dash and firewall. And put a new electrical part of the ignition switch in it, so I really angered it. I unhooked the shift linkage from the column, moved the shifter around, ran the yoke on the trans through the gears, and hooked everything...

Finally got to drive it around today. Had a symptom of not coming out of Park, not sure what was going on, but seems ok now.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Went to the Zone, picked up the alternator, had to adapt it a little but it works, 29.3 volts at the positive terminal. What more can I ask for, you say? My brother in law has been busy patching the holes left over from taking the red light off the roof,:naner::naner::naner: this truck is really...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

So I got the truck to start today, turns out that I really am my own worst enemy. When I did the Doghead relay, seems that the crimp on terminals I used on the control side of the wiring, (the small wires), were incorrectly crimped and were making intermittent connections. Strange, because it...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Tim, thanks for the encouragement. I've had 2 close friends tell me to convert it to 12v, but I really hate to do that. I see the point, but I think that the issues I have had so far are 12v Chevy problems, not the alternator though. I sure wish I had a known good one close to me to do a...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

After checking some fusible links, I repaired one, found a burnt wire. Repaired the burnt wire and discovered that the alternator that I had rebuilt (Gen 2) wasn't isolated ground cause it made fireworks when I hooked up the battery cables. Luckily Gen 1 hasn't been messed with, after swapping...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I have a Power Probe I have been using to check stuff with since it shows 12v or 24v or ground. But I haven't checked the fusible links there. I haven't checked any of them because I'm not sure how to, unless I cut them out.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Well 2 weeks later and I have managed to completely piss it off. After figuring out there's no signal to the starter, no signal to the relay under the dash, (the doghead relay), I have printed off the diagram from the sticky and will be replacing the electrical part of the ignition switch...

    M1028 Parking and Tail Lights

The taillight assemblies have their own ground wires, you can clean those and see if it helps, can't hurt

    New radiator

I did my radiator last week, I filled mine up the second time. I haven't driven it much, I did a block heater too. I've got 5 gallons in it so far. I think that's why they say to wait 4 or 5 cycles to start using the block heater, because of air pockets. Double check your hose clamps, old or...

    M1009 temp gauge

Hahahahahahaha You would be pretty disappointed with the comfort part. I'm not sure I could see you in a Prius, I laugh at them and I have a 98 Civic.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I did check out the operation on the truck today, when its cold, no problem, warm no crank. If I can get a helper tomorrow, I will go deeper. As a side note, I installed the GM block heater last week, super easy, follow directions. I got mine for $44, I got the dealership hookup.
