Rick, you were more right than you thought. The 6 ft stick was spot on with the tweaking,
and the old line was softer than I thought. Cheap fix as the line was $4 and I usually have
lots of brake fluid hanging around. I took one of the co workers with me on the test drive
and he said he...
THANKS for the tip on the line, I didn't think the 3/16 was the right size since I have probably about 40 feet of that in my toolbox at work. I'll grab a 6 footer on the way to the shop.
Drove my M1008 to work today. I have driven this truck at least once a week
for the last 8 months, just not if there is salt on the roads. Backed it into
a spot in the shop and the brake pedal went to the floor, the line on the passenger
side of the frame let loose. 2 weeks ago I had a ton of...
Check to see if the return fitting on the pump is clogged with brown/black
debris. Mine was plugged, I broke out the glass ball/check valve and drove it
like that for a while. The flex ring disintegrated and the 2 parts rode together
a while. The replacement part was 1 piece, no flex ring...
Yeah, mine too. Mine is lit up well enough to see
if I'm doing 55 or 65. The fuel gauge does what it
wants anyway, I don't pay much attention to it.
I think someone here cleaned theirs up and painted
the inside of the cluster white or silver, and used some
white LED bulbs in it. Blue LED's...
Mine is "Working Red" also, I really don't care for it that way.
Apparently Working Red has a Stealth Coating and it hides 3 tons of
ancient Chevy truck from other drivers. I can't tell you how many
times someone looks me in the eye and continues to pull out in front
of me. I hope next year I...
When I do anything with the cooling system, I use a coolant "burp" funnel
I got from the tool truck guys. It works pretty well, has a lot of different
fittings and gaskets, one for the GM stuff as well. Just let it run with the funnel
in place til the air bubbles stop. On the other hand, if...
I had mine rebuilt this summer by a diesel tech I used to work with.
He put a Stanadyne kit in it. My flex ring was totaled, and those 2 pieces
rode together so long it almost chewed the buttons off the rear weight
retainer. He put in a solid piece, 1 less thing to go wrong. That is a...
Just asking, has anyone considered that maybe the rubber brake lines have collapsed?
I had a 75 GMC that did that. It applied the brakes but wouldn't release unless you
cracked the bleeder screw
If you guys do get lucky enough to purchase one, please
just pay to have it delivered safely, 3 tons on a trailer really
doesn't belong behind a minivan.
