Oh sorry mine is surging right now, runs well otherwise. The check
ball is in the fitting in the top of the pump, mine had a restriction.
The surging is a side effect of no backpressure I think. As far as the
gasket, mine was ok. Hope I didn't mislead you. Look and see if the
check ball is...
Please be cautious pulling larger trailers with smaller trucks,
the "tail wagging the dog" effect can be hazardous to your ego.
The wrong load on a small trailer can beat up on a bigger truck
faster than you think.
Hi Greg,
Just asking, did you eliminate the check ball fitting in the return line in the
top of the pump? Mine does the same thing. The fitting was plugged,
I could not get past 35 mph. Had blue smoke bad. I gutted the glass
ball fitting, and she ran like a scared rabbit. BUT it has a surge...
Swapped out mirrors for nicer ones, chrome not painted. But now I can
open the wing window on driver's side. Plus pulled door panels and
lubed window regulators with silicone grease and PB Blaster, no more
Cranky Windows! And cleaned all the windows again!
Drove mine to work today. Power steering pump fell off, broke the (1) bolt
holding it to the bracket. Got it ready to go back on tomorrow.
Borrowed a used car to drive home, a Hummer H1. Not really a bad turn of
events, the H1 is actually cool, I like it
Thanks guys! I just wanted a comparison, I knew it was getting
better mileage than my C20 did. I idle around a lot, let it warm up,
let it cool down, etc. Happy to be average
On the flare, you can just do the first half of the inverted flare
operation, and not crimp the cone into the back half. Makes a
good hose barb. Use the copper-nickel stuff, it works very easy.
It's PRICEY but it works. You'll be glad you did
I know the Blazers get "20" mpg. This is for the fatties, the
M1008 and M1028 trucks. I need to do more research (driving)
and be consistent with fuel additives. Mine is dosed pretty heavy
with the WalMart 2 stroke motor oil. Rough starting point
is 14.8 mpg, tires are 285/75/16, drivetrain is...
Passed someone driving 50 mph on a State Highway!!!!
(Points And Laughs!!!)
WooHoo!!! This is the second time in 3 months!!!
I'm about to put little flags on my door, I'm feeling
like a fighter ace!!
OK, so my brother-in-law calls tonight, says he needs to have me
bring the truck to pull someone else's trailer, and all of a sudden
I need a trailer harness for 4 flat coupler (I hope). Will the 67-83
plug work correctly or not? If I have to fab up the curb side wiring
on a plug I have to...
Can't help with springs. But GM trucks like these are known for
rubber brake line failure. Hit the brake hard, then let go.See if the disc turns.
If not, crack the bleeder. If it turns then, replace the rubber line.
If not, could be the caliper.
Correct me if I'm wrong, open for criticism here.
If I want to go fast (60 mph or more) I'll drive one of my cars.
If I want to hold up traffic, I drive the M1008. I usually allow
10-20 extra minutes of travel time, whenever I drive it. If you
don't like it go around. I wouldn't follow one of these things,
what if something fell off...
Don't forget to check the return fitting in the top of the pump.
Mine was clogged, I was down to 35 mph and had a really
big blue/white cloud following me everywhere. Even idling
in the barnyard. Save some time, if its plugged, break the ball
and take the spring out. Mine runs a little...
