What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Drove around the country block just now after fixing the bulb for the voltmeter. 65 mph, after the fueling issue fiasco last week, seems like a different truck. If this keeps up, I'll drive it to work once or twice a week.

    Clogged IP return valve

Got it. Picture 4-155 6.2 diesel manual. I had it, but paranoia had set in after a tough 10 day stretch of fuel system frustration on this truck. Nothing but fuel in the top of the pump, and even broke the factory seal on the one screw on the top cover.

    Clogged IP return valve

OK, sorry in advance for asking, I can't find the post that tells me.... When you pull the top off the IP and put it back on, do you put it on toward the radiator and push it backwards then put the bolts in? I really don't want a smoking heap in my barnyard. That's what I did and I'm afraid to...

    Clogged IP return valve

Kind of that color, but very fine and powdery. When the truck acted up, I had almost filled the tank. After, I drained the tank and refilled with different (new) fuel. Also a new filter. Generally I drive it once a week, but no clue how much it sat around before..... I'll take the top off...

    Clogged IP return valve

Ha! Pulled the return fitting out of the pump again. Broke the (clogged) glass ball in the fitting. Gutted the fitting, got the same kind of red stuff out of mine that AECS did. Well, that truck has never run this good. 60mph no problem. And NO smoke. Is the red stuff the fungus in the fuel...

    Clogged IP return valve

Gotta pull the top, drove it around & back to the house, back to 40 mph and blue smoke, DagNab It! Busy tomorrow, gonna have to wait for more diagnosis. Good luck AECS!

    Clogged IP return valve

I probably will, I was just so happy to not have a giant blue cloud in my yard I had to drive it down the road! I have to run some errands this afternoon, I'll try to look at it later

    Clogged IP return valve

Update on mine--- I cleaned my return valve and blew air through the return line, that valve was stuck pretty bad. Truck rolls down the road nicely now, no trace of that smoke and idles smooth. I'm going to drive it and see how it goes. Good luck with yours!!!

    Clogged IP return valve

Dude, all of a sudden mine is acting up too. I changed filter, drained and refilled tank with new, different fuel, I'm going to look at the return lines tomorrow. But I think my flex ring in the IP went south. Side note, I did dose it up fairly heavy with TC-W3 and some Mobil-1, the fuel was...

Where to find voltmeter bulb holder?

Thanks! One of my wires broke when I was working on the dash. Then I took the bulb out (DUH) and it fell apart. I'll try NAPA this week

Hauled 2000lbs of steel today with the M1028

Drock, you are talking about a product called "EQUAL". We used it in semi tires. It seemed to work, everyone liked it.

I bet it rode like a Cadillac too!

    Steering column issues.

Can you adjust the rack and pinion on the switch some more? If that's possible, I've never had to mess with one. If it did not cooperate, I would swap it for a tilt column out of another truck. I might swap mine out later anyway

Bled the Brakes and Now I Have None

^^^yes.^^^ I flushed mine out after replacing both rear lines, I used the Harbor Freight brake sucker. But they were spongy afterwards, we manually bled them at all 4 corners. THAT fixed it. I really believe in a manual bleed, there are air pockets all over that don't respond to a siphon gun...

    Wreckerman bought a WHAT????

Any pics of Caprice staff cars???? I never heard of those. I would prefer a Caprice to a Crown Vic any day. Beacon on top, Blackout light on front, sweet OD green paint, 4.56 gears, Four Wheel Drive, only thing missing is 6.2 diesel and a big ol brush guard!!! I'll take 2 thanks!!!!:grd:

    m1008 Window Roll Up issues

Mine doesn't roll up or down for $&(@! I got a parts door from a civvy truck so tell me how you fix yours! At the (honda) shop sometimes the run channel is an issue, squirt some silicone spray lube down the window run. See if that does anything. Good luck

    M1031 question

^^^^ Wow that's kind of hard to read. Sorry

M1009 shifting rough, high RPM, doesn't want to go Into 3rd.

Four inches of vacuum line fixed my weird high rpm shift problem.

    M1008 west coast mirror

Guys, I had those mirrors on my old 1 ton dump truck. There is no substitute for the view you get with west coast mirrors. They can make it difficult to make a beer run, as you must be precise when entering a small town drive thru. Just saying.
