Since this is a thread about higher power motors, I have a question for anyone running one. Has anyone with a turned up 5.9 or DT466 (or whatever) had any transfer case issues from the power increase? any breakage?
Scootertrs,
Don't know if it's an option for you, but painting your hardtop white should make a huge difference in the Miami sun. Less heat soak means less cooling requirements. Do that and the system Parker2 posted should work, and that price looks good.
I've always wondered if the older 5 tons with the LDS would run better off road (especially bobbed) then the 800 series due to the lighter motor? Seems like the bigger, heavier and thirstier 855 motor would be a waste on a bobbed truck.
In a perfect world, or at least one with lots of money...
I have read (in magazines and on this site) that there is an aircraft landing light bulb that fits into that same rubber housing but is much brighter. Does anyone know the part number? or have you used one??
If you are working with your winch (ie-non self recovery) like lifting off an a-frame or pulling logs, or whatever, the super slow infinate speed control WITH full torque is really nice, plus you can run a wireless remote control. Hydraulic is 100% better if you have money burning a hole in...
I have one and it works fairly well. The wipers suck, but the fluid pumps just fine. I just pump it a few time to get the glass good and wet, then turn the wipers on.
They make them for panels 1/4" or less. Put it at the bottom (by the access cover) for a easy install.

Then cover it with one of these for a lot of added strength.

I'm going with type II WD (water based) tan CARC, 2 part paint. It mixes 2-1-.5 with paint, cat, water so 1 gallon of color makes 1.75 gallons of sprayable paint. My current paint is in great shape overall, so I'm only topcoating the bed sides, cab and bumper. I am not using primer, but I...
I use my deuce for work, and often the cost of materials in the bed or on a trailer exceed the value of the truck by over 10 fold, that's what I am protecting.
A hood lock makes it harder and slower for even a skilled and determined thief to jump in at a stop and drive off with the cargo. If...
Since the motor will start with no accessory power, locking the on-off switch is fairly useless. Locking the engine stop is better, but again easy to get around if you can pop the hood. Yes someone could get under the truck, but would be much harder to get around security efforts (due to...
LOTS of deuce security threads, but no pictures/ideas of hood locks. I was going to fab one up soon, but wanted to see others had done. My thought is: If you can lock your hood, imobilizng the vehicle is much easier and more secure, because as many have pointed out in the past- all the in-cab...
Here are the type II WD CARC part numbers from sherman williams.

My truck looks just like that (minus the green)- It was only released a few months back and has CARC that is less then 4 years old- But it needs touch-up, so I'm...
